George Clooney is leading an effort to organize a Jan. 22 primetime telethon to raise money for aid to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
The details of the telethon were in the embryonic stage as of Thursday afternoon, but the existing plan is for it to air from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern. MTV Networks said it is collaborating with Clooney on the telethon, and HBO and CBS confirmed they are on board.

If the money was going to some of the ministries already there prior to the earthquake it might do some good. If the money goes to some UN org or some leftist shakedown org it will obviously be just a con job.
Nnnnnnnnnope! Not gonna watch OR donate to ‘that’. Money won’t get to them, anyway.
Geeee! Jan 22. What year?
I don’t follow entertainment news so I don’t know anything about George Clooney’s character, I just know that he and I would not agree politically based on his body of work.
I have no objection to him raising money for Haiti. I don’t know what his mindset is or his level of smugness is - it is simply the correct thing to do. It’s not the only thing to do - my church will be sending money etc. It’s that I appreciate anyone helping those in Haiti right now and if George will lead the effort - I applaud him, wholeheartedly.
How to tell when you are no longer a “STAR”?
When your agent tells you to do a telethon.
Okay wha’d I do now. Who’s using my name in “vein”?
Instead of begging for money from ordinary folks, George Loony needs to open up his own wallet and that of his buddies in the entertainment and sports. I’m sure they each have a few millions stashed away and can donate generously. Oprah and Glover come to mind.
Whether he is smug or not (I don’t see how anyone can tell what his intentions are), what difference does it make if he raises money for the relief effort? I don’t agree with his politics and perhaps he just wants his face on the screen but cash is cash in time of need. Just be careful to do a background check to see what percentage of the proceeds are going to Haiti.
Well said.
If it helps people, that’s all that matters.
I see this as an opportunity for the ( 90% high school drop outs) Hollywood Elite (snicker) to have a photo op
The rest of us have already given to the Red Cross and or individual churches relief funds ..
Oh well help is good, regardless of the personal intent ..
Good for George Clooney.
HateyAid
Another “We Celebrities care more than you” smug-fest. I’ll pass.
