What Do Sarah Palin and Jesus Christ Have In Common? (Whose side is Red State on, anyway?)
Red State ^ | 14 Jan 2010 | Erick Erickson

I don’t know what it is about Sarah Palin that sets people off, but there is very little in between. The reaction people have to Sarah Palin is very much the reaction many people have to Jesus — both offend and disgust the secular values of some and with others failing to embrace either sends you straight to hell. Judging by my conversation with Governor Palin a few weeks ago when I asked her why the left has more compassion for Al Qaeda than for conservative women and minorities, I think she gets it and finds some humor in it.

--snip--

I understand that a great many of Palin’s supporters, myself included, have felt on the defensive for a while. The media genuinely hates this woman. The left is more revolted by Palin than they ever were by Bush.

I get that.

But I also get that there are Republicans who like — even love — Sarah Palin who think some of her handlers might not give her the best of advice or think she should or should not do one thing or another. And i’m finding, both from personal experience and the experience of friends, that when those points are brought up, the person raising the point is often inappropriately attacked as a Palin hater.

“HOWEVER, if she runs and loses because of Republican skullduggery so that “next-in-line” Mitt Romney is the nominee, then I am finished with the party for good. I will not vote for Mitt under any circumstance, and will either stay home or go 3rd Party if he is the GOP standard bearer. I suspect that I will not be alone.”

You are not alone.

To say he does not support our Military is just wrong - or worse; criticisms offered that appear embedded in more 'bias' than fact.

Mitt Romney is anti military and always has been, when his father was the antiwar republican candidaate for president in 1967, Mitt himself was avoiding the draft in France, as he described it.
"I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam..."

For the 2008 election, and people like you, he changed that to.
"I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam." Boston Globe, 6/24/07"

If you want to know what Mitt Romney thinks of the military, then how is this?

"One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."
Sincerely, W. Mitt Romney (and my five light in the loafers, sons)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"The good news is, we have a volunteer Army and that's the way we're going to keep it. My sons are adults. They've chosen not to serve in the military in active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. ... And one of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president."

I forgot to mention that no Romney man has ever served the United States in uniform in the entire history of our nation, and they first arrived here to serve Joseph Smith in 1842.

"moot point perhaps; but of course. . .that was supposed to be: ". . .while giving example of strong moral core that 'does not'contradict Christian values; and in no way, insults Christian values."

Being a leader in a religion that is trying to replace Christianity with a new religion contradicts Christian values in my mind, it even insults Christian values.

Mitt's own wife was a Christian before she was personally converted and baptised at age 16 by Governor George Romney (while he was campaigning for President of the United States) while his son Mitt was living in France, she is no longer a Christian, nor or her children. Does that "contradict" or "insult" Christian values?

agree with you, that GW (Bush) walked the walk. Many here judge him unfairly severely.

Particularly if you compare what GW Bush actually did in office compared to say Reagan for example.

How does mocking conservative Christians by claiming that they confuse her with the Messiah, keep you from being a hypocrite, it seems to make you something as bad or worse.

Oh I think it is pretty well documented what I mentioned about you.

Yes, your clown friends saw me as a bully as they were exposed for their attacks on this website and were sent packing because of them.

Your support for them was quite dedicated.

You believed all their lies.

Pretty scary hateful people, your friends.

You seem to have found a nice niche here, slamming Palin and her supporters.

BTW, you should watch your mouth.

Have you actually read any of the Palin threads here? We are hypocrites. We properly ripped Obama worshipers for being the whacko sycophants they are. Then we engage in similar conduct.

Of course Obama is a true threat. Of course, Palin poses no threat at all.

But this does not excuse the conduct of some of her so-called supporters. To restate a familiar but accurate cliche, with friends like some folks, Sarah Palin needs no enemies.

I've read a lot of Palin threads, and I think you're overstating the case by a lot. More often than not, the hyperbole comes from the small but loud anti-Palin crowd.

Just because we support her doesn't mean we "worship" her. We like what she stands for because it's generally what we stand for.

No you didn't

You made a lying accusation about me on the open forum, and when I called you on it to retract the lie you DID NOT man up and pull it back.

Not only that, you spewed your love for anti-freepers at a Free Republic event to the point I had to tell you to can it.

Stop lying.

And watch your mouth.

Have you been reading this thread?

You are full of it, no one is worshiping Palin, and as an anti social conservative who is more comfortable with Giuliani and Mitt Romney, you know that using the language of faith to attack conservatives that back the leading conservative candidate, is a way for you to mock them without actually laying your cards on the table.

You are a dishonest hypocrite.

Anyway; am not here to cheer for Mitt; only to warn that a too narrow focus may come to bite the Repub Party, big time; and that would be a disaster for America and for a never-ending future to come.

If Myth is the repub nominee then the current _resident will win a second term. And the repubs will ONCE AGAIN PROVE that they are, indeed, THE STUPID PARTY.

Myth is a rooster-sucking* marxist wearing an (R) next to his name instead of an honest (D).

Now, you stated in the quote from you that I posted above, that you are NOT a Myth cheerleader. I'm going to call you a lying sack of crap. I checked out your posting history and almost EVERY recent post shows you're a Myth booster.

So, go back to Myth and tell him "NO SALE". He's the nominee, then he, and the country, LOSE! Period. NO MORE FRACKING RINO's! Myth can ESAD.

*for rooster, read "cock"

You're half right. I accused you of being a stalker. I really am not sure if you are or not. But you are a harasser and a bully.

Not only that, you spewed your love for anti-freepers at a Free Republic event to the point I had to tell you to can it.

OK. Stop right there. I expressed support for you as a victim of what I felt was an unfair attack from CP. You responded by lying about me and then saying that you didn't wish to discuss it. You're a pathological liar. You only get away with it because you're supported by cowards.

I didn't come after you. You came after me. Stay away from me.

Look at some of the other Palin threads here. You know what I’m talking about.

Look. I’ve seen her on TV, She’s a nice person. Folks here need to let her be a commentator, make money, and have a good life. I don’t think she wants to be president.

God, you are willfully thick, I think you are full of it, of course I don't know what you are talking about, haven't you even read this thread, or my posts?

Your anti Palin, anti conservative, anti social conservative trolling is tiresome and weak, you are soft on conservatism and strong on Giuliani an Romney, why is that?

It had to cross your mind, they are the only ones that you could mean. Only moderators could make your claim that you made to that other poster possible.
