Rush Limbaugh Slams Obama's Response to Haiti Earthquake
Stephanie Condon (AP Photo)In the face of utter devastation across Haiti following a huge earthquake, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves yesterday to blast President Obama for his response to the crisis.
The disaster enables Mr. Obama to highlight his "compassionate" and "humanitarian" credentials and to "boost his credibility with the black community," Limbaugh said. He also decried the White House's promotion of charitable organizations through which people can contribute to the disaster relief. "We've already donated to Haiti," he said. "It's called the U.S. income tax."
Some have contended that Limbaugh speaks for the Republican party, but that does not appear to be the case in this instance.
Republican leaders in the House and Senate have expressed their support for Mr. Obama's leadership.
"We appreciate President Obama's immediate response to this catastrophic tragedy, and stand ready to assist in any way," House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said in a statement. "In this pressing time of need, I know that the good faith and generosity of our citizens will no doubt help. Our Government and the American people prepared to do all that we can provide assistance, comfort and resources to the people of Haiti and their families."
Both Democrats and Republicans have called for the White House to grant temporary protected status to Haitian nationals currently in the United States because of the earthquake, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

I wonder how fast his response was in comparison to Bush’s response to Katrina?
Rush is addressing this right this minute:

April is an idiot, isn’t she?
I must admit, I have Compassion Fatigue where Haiti is concerned.
Did you hear him talk to the gal who got her info from Huff Post? “You’re a Blockhead....with tampons in your ears.” Made me laugh out loud, which, considering I’m caring for three vomiting children, is rather impressive.
I think you give April to much credit.
Don’t you mean “Like April is like an idiot, like isn’t she?”
Rush is spot on with his comparison of these two disasters. He will be taken out of contex and as usual be deemed a bigot and racist. It’s a shame that the media gets away with sound bites.
What was Obama’s response to the floods in Fargo?
A product of Higher Education, LOL!
Honestly, I think people should shut up at this point.
I see nothing wrong with what has been done so far.
I dislike Obama as much as everyone; but it appears the right things are being done from what I have seen.
I’m sure there will be fertile ground to criticize him in the future for something Haiti related.
He appears to just be doing his job so far.
We need to keep the focus on the health care coup, and the upcoming immigration power grap.
Affirmative-action Pulitzer Prize winner Eugene Robinson was on MSNBC (where he always is) last night calling Rush “racist”. (What else is new?)
Rush has given more to charities than April will make from gubermint checks arriving in her mailbox for life.
Where is Joe Wilson? He needs to get in front of CBSNews!
CBSNews - YOU lie!!!
I heard everything Rush said yesterday and today. On neither show did he EVER denigrate the situation in Haiti, discourage donations or do ANYTHING in a negative manner towards this situation.
The Dems have fallen over themselves to say that what Reid said (”light-skinned”, “negro dialect”) was okay - because it was TRUE! There were people on Glenn Beck, Rush and Hannity (radio shows) that said this!
So, now that Rush has spoken the truth, they will be all over him! Hypocrisy - thy name is Democrat!
Timing is everything, and I just think it’s way to early to inject politics into this while bodies are still being pulled out of collapsed buildings.
This is true. Pat Robertson and Limbaugh need to cool it. This is a disaster of biblical proportions. Any help, anytime, from anywhere should be welcome. Impugning motives at this time is both wrong and counterproductive. The old saying “fools rush in where angels fear to tread” come to mind.
I think you give April to much credit.
Sometimes people like April make it difficult to think like a Christian. I tried very hard to be nice. I need to repent of my real thoughts.
