OBAMA TO SPEAK AT GOP CONFERENCE
NBC ^ | Posted: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 4:19 PM | by Domenico Montanaro

Posted on 01/12/2010 6:58:37 PM PST by DBCJR

President Obama will address the House Republican Conference later this month during their retreat in Baltimore, being held Jan. 28th to 30th.

Obama was invited by the elected GOP Leadership to speak a few weeks ago and will take them up on their offer. ...

Despite that gracious tone, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor wrote this morning in a statement:

“Though it’s welcome news that President Obama will speak with House Republicans later this month, it is important to point out that true bipartisanship requires working together on common-sense solutions and a mainstream agenda to help Americans facing difficult challenges. It is important to ask whether the President plans to meet WITH Republicans, or speak TO them. In 2009, on the rare occasion when we were invited to the White House, the President paid Republican proposals lip service while the cameras were on, only to completely rebuff those ideas afterward. The problems faced by our country have grown too large for the President to respond to Republican and Independent views and solutions with indifference, like in 2009. I hope this is a sign that a new year will bring change.”

Now maybe it’s just me (but judging from most replies above, I don’t think so).....but what on earth do the Pubbies actually expect to see happen here? I mean, seriously?

The One will swoop in on a beam of golden light, give them “hopenchange” via a lecture on bipartisanship (e.g. “get with the program; we have the numbers and I WON”), then he’ll levitate and slide out the door to adoring applause.

I need to find a wastebasket and wretch....pardon me, all.....

Bush did the same with the democrats. It accomplished very little. Its just a photo-op that is in the GOP’s favor.

...

Im not trying to convince anyone that there is something to be saved int the republican party.

Im trying to show you that when the PEOPLE who run the party are gone, all thats left is a name and some buildings, furniture, computers, bank accounts, etc... The important thing is the name and the fact that it is one of the two major parties.

It is far better that WE control that party by purging it of every last rino pos. WE not only get to control a major political party, we also get to wipe out a competitor completely. Instead of having to compete with marxists in the democrat party AND the republican party we can concentrate exclusively on the marxists in the democrat party.

Understand this fact... EVERYTHING you see as a corrupting factor of the GOP is contained within the PEOPLE who currently infest it. REMOVE THOSE PEOPLE AND YOU REMOVE THE CORRUPTION! We then replace them with folks like us... Radicals... “extremists”.... People who WILL have the courage and determination to achieve the goal of smashing the marxists control over our lives.

I understand the passion. Personally, I find it harder to control my rage as the days go by... However, if we are serious about winning this war then we need to do whatever it takes to defeat the enemy in the most efficient manner possible. That means wiping out the leftists in the GOP then turning the apparatus of the GOP against the marxists in the remainder of the government. We WILL beat them with their own stick...

Tell you two what. You change the name of the Republican Party to the "Conservative Party" and I'll jump on board. No "third party" k?! But so long as there are "moderates (lying liberals claiming to be conservatives until they are elected) commandeering what is now the "Republican Party" there is, in reality, NO two party system. We have ONE PARTY at this time. Just because there are two legs in this single party does not mean they are not the same pair of pants.

Bottom line... You want to elect "Conservatives" to the Republican Party? Change the name of the Party. Otherwise prepare yourself for a continued rash of disappointments. The Republican's party leaders all claim to be conservatives then side with the liberals.

sirchtruth: I never claimed to be smarter than either Rush or Hannity (well... I am smarter than Hannity but I digress). I am however at least as smart as Rush. Hannity is simply a parrot.

MN some thirty years ago tried that — they changed the name of the party to the “Minnesota Independent Republican Party,” but it didn’t sell. MN people still vote liberal Democrat, as Franken boasts. And poor Pawlenty is almost a “Casper the Friendly Ghost” Republican.

It seems that Mike Pence is not what IN people may have thought when they elected him. He must be easily deceived.

There a tape somewhere from the fall of 1989 at an “education” (liberal) conference where GHWB did extra gushing over a man bearing the alias “Bill Clinton”. So how did that turn out?

[Obama]normally hurts himself from his own speeches lately

Agree. In the hands of competent and astute people, this invitation could be brilliant. Unfortunately, I'm not at all confident that the meager handful of competent leaders had anything to to do with it. I can only hope that when Obama hands them incredibly useful soundbites on a silver platter (and he will), there’ll be someone there who recognizes what to do with them.

The facts that you present here on the Republican party are excellent.

In Nevada the conservatives took over the Republican Party.

In AZ “we the people” are working to do the same thing. The plan is working and it his the RINOS very nervous.

McRino is coming to speak to the party at an event that I am attending on Sat. The conservatives plan to hammer him. He wouldn’t even acknowledge the event if he wasn’t feeling the conservative pressure. (He has also started running ad’s on the local conservative station.)

The incumbents tried to get all the party money in a coup attempt on Dec 30th but because conservatives have already infiltrated the party the coup didn’t work and it was stopped. (Give money directly to conservative candidates and sign up to be a Precinct Committeman, Poll Watcher, volunteer for a Conservative Campaign. This will help get our country back.)

Unfortunately, what it has is a two-headed, one party system, and this offer for Obama to speak at the GOP conference, just proves my point.

LOL! Ok that's funny! You're not going to change the name, there will be no "conservative party" that stands a chance to win diddly! We have to fight to kick moderate/rino's out and give conservatives power.

We go the route you're talking conservatism will be dead in 5 years! The two party system encompasses the whole realm, that's why it essentially works. I want moderates and rino's to realize conservatism is right the way to go. However, I'll be the first one to kick their asses out the door if they try to turn this party.

I want to fight the enemy within, you want to start a new army! Two different philosophies.

I want to fight the enemy within, you want to start a new army! Two different philosophies.

You want to fight a losing battle. As I quoted from a source much smarter than both of us, you don't put new wine into an old wineskin. You don't sew new cloth into an old garment.

Sometimes the wisest thing to do is to cut your loses and run. In sales we are taught to not advertise for the competition. In scripture we are taught to cut off the enemy and to not give it the satisfaction of even thinking is has any power.

I realize that simple principles are lost on the more sophisticated among you but there is one fact that seems to be lost on you. Conservatism cannot be killed. It's a way of life and trying to scare real Conservatives into beating that dead horse called the "Republican Party" is pure foolishness. REAL Conservatives aren't buying it. Your philosophy is like buying some old dilapidated, run down old restaurant, condemned by the city for health code violations and thinking that you're going to get people that had previously gotten sick in that establishment to come back into that building simply because you say, "Under New Management." BS! I don't care how much RINOS whine and snivel about the exodus from the Republican party by us Conservatives, we aren't going to go back simply because they say they aren't RINOS anymore. For decades now we have been lied to by the likes of Newt, Rudy, George Bush Sr. and Jr., McCain, Steele, etc. One friggin bold faced liar after another. Each professing to be a "Reagan Conservative" (like Sean does I might add) until they are elected. I even heard someone last night trying to compare Obama to Reagan. Can you friggin believe it?

I'm tired of casting my vote for the lesser of two evils and in the case of the last election I voted for a "vice" presidential candidate because she was the only Conservative on the ticket.

NO MORE! I will vote for Sherlock Holmes before I vote for another RINO and I don't care what party he/she's in.

We need a "Conservative Party" PERIOD!
Why are you "moderates" so afraid of a name change? You're afraid because you know you can't win anything without the Conservatives. What Conservatives are starting to learn is that we have a lot more power than you big tenters want us to know we have.
Changing the name or starting a new party isn't as big a deal as you all would like for us to believe it is. It's happened before. Do you honestly believe the Republican Party and Demoncrap party has always been? They haven't you know?! They had to start somewhere.
Conservatives need to leave whatever party they are a part of, pull together and start a new party from scratch. Do whatever it takes to make it foundationally sound and make it a true Conservative party. A party that is unwavering in it's tenets and that will expel any boneheaded member that does not wish to abide by those tenets. We need to write a charter that is etched in stone. One that does not change with every wind of doctrine. One that does not "evolve." One that holds to the basic principles the founding fathers were led to pen and to remain true to those principles no matter what.

I know that I for one am tired of all the gray areas. Myself and every other "Conservative" I know like the safety found in absolutes. If you can't believe in absolutes you are NOT a "Conservative."

MHO

I feel sorry for you. You're really clueless about this. There is no way in hades you will ever have a 'conservative party' do diddly-squat in this political environment! You won't even get 20% to follow your flight of strict. I commend you for valor, but that time is not now. Absolutes are fine, and they exist, however do you really believe just because one wants to stay and fight for a party which is already built they will lose their conservative roots? Conservatives are not religious zealots in their political activism, like liberals are. We recognize gov't is not God. This is why your theory of the glory of a CP would never work right now. It's boarders way too much on the edge of zealotry. I do not necessarily disagree, I just realize it's not plausible in this day.

You can be a crybaby all you want, but it will never change the fact running away from the problem will only embolden the moderate/rino losers.

As the American people we have lost our moral compass, we will never recognize a party full of absolutionist in this day and age. It's reality now... Stay and fight to change the power leadership and then maybe we can talk about changing the name!

"I feel sorry for you. You're really clueless about this."

LOL... I'M CLUELESS? LOL.... You're funny. You said, "do you really believe just because one wants to stay and fight for a party which is already built they will lose their conservative roots?"
Those "Conservative roots" you're trying to save have already died. There are no "REAL" Conservatives in the Republican party. We've all left and the proof is in the fact that you call all God fearing people "Zealots". Most Conservatives have a very strong relationship with God and God never changes. Conservatives understand this but you rinos do not. You, like your liberal brethren, believe in evolution as evidenced in your "it's not plausible in this day" comment. God's principles DO NOT CHANGE. It's wrong to murder innocent babies in the womb. It's wrong to enslave a populace with unethical religious expectations like those the cultists in the whole government run healthcare church are proposing. It's wrong to tax people for the air they breath like the whole Cap-n-Trade crowd is proposing. It's wrong for men to place their genitalia into the rectums of other men and it's even worse to let them have unions much less let them call those unions marriage. PERIOD!

I could go on all day listing all the sins those like you in the middle keep trying to convince us Conservatives to accept. WE ARE STILL FREE TO BELIEVE WHAT WE WANT and we do not want to believe that good is bad and that bad is acceptable in any capacity.

Look. You're a moderate. I'm ok with that. We understand each other. I'm principled and adamant when it comes to standing up for absolutes. I'm a "Zealot" if you will. I love God with all my heart, mind, soul and with all my strength. I do not believe in negotiating away and giving into the pressures of whiny a** spoiled little moonbats that do not like the rigidness of good wholesome rules. I'm one that believes that people of character do NOT surrender their principles simply because they want deviants to like them or because I am deluded by the hope that maybe, just maybe, if I dive deep enough into the deviants cesspool I just might be able to pull them out without getting their crap on me. I'm smarter than that.
You. Well you ride the fence and think you can influence others by dazzling them with your wit. Tell me. What's the difference between what you believe and what John McCain believes?

Bottom line. You and I are going to disagree so long as you keep thinking I am a zealot for standing up for the truth. You and I are going to keep disagreeing so long as you keep thinking there is more than one "truth" to any topic. I have no problems being a "Conservative" in the truest sense of the word. I have no problems being called a "Right-Winger" in the truest sense of the word. I have no problems being called a bigoted zealot in the truest sense of the words. So long as you think you can negotiate with the enemy you and I have nothing further to discuss and you will continue to freak as you watch those like me leave your beloved party of wolves in sheep's clothing. In fact in my opinion, with the illegal alien we now have serving in the White House I doubt there is enough time for any party to unseat the dictator that has stolen our country. We Conservatives have listened to your ilk for too long. Now, like the captured wild hogs we are trapped and headed for the slaughter.

I pray that I am wrong but I think you rinos have had us watching your left hand for so long now that we are being clubbed over the head with your right.

There are already about fifty "third" parties in the USA.

Most of them were created to split the conservative vote away from the GOP, and that is the primary reason the Democrats currently have a majority in both houses of congress, and Obama is in the White Hut.

None of these "third" parties have won any nationwide elections, and that isn't going to change this year. "Making a statement" will not save this nation. Getting conservatives through the primary elections in the GOP, then getting those conservatives elected in the general elections against Democrats in the general elections might, just might, save the nation.

If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. If you are not, right now, helping conservatives win back control of the Republican Party in your precinct, county, and state, then you are not part of the solution.

None of those "third parties" call themselves "The Conservative Party."

Why is it that you people are soooooooooooo ashamed to be called "Conservatives?" Could it be because you don't like the Conservative platform?
