President Obama will address the House Republican Conference later this month during their retreat in Baltimore, being held Jan. 28th to 30th.
Obama was invited by the elected GOP Leadership to speak a few weeks ago and will take them up on their offer. ...
Despite that gracious tone, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor wrote this morning in a statement:
Though its welcome news that President Obama will speak with House Republicans later this month, it is important to point out that true bipartisanship requires working together on common-sense solutions and a mainstream agenda to help Americans facing difficult challenges. It is important to ask whether the President plans to meet WITH Republicans, or speak TO them. In 2009, on the rare occasion when we were invited to the White House, the President paid Republican proposals lip service while the cameras were on, only to completely rebuff those ideas afterward. The problems faced by our country have grown too large for the President to respond to Republican and Independent views and solutions with indifference, like in 2009. I hope this is a sign that a new year will bring change.

Obama’s sinking poll numbers must be burning a hole in his brain at night.

If I was spending money to go to the GOP conference I would be pissed off if I had to listen to Obama for one stinking second! Nor could I sit there in silence listening to his B.S. in person.

All they have to do is get Obozo to do is open his mouth. Americans are getting quite sick of seeing his mug on the boob tube. Just wait for the fall out if he preempts American Idol for his State of the Union address ... Better yet — if they can him off Teleprompter, he'll has one of his re-occurring outbreaks of Foot in Mouth disease. |

Who is sponsoring this “retreat” and WHY do our elected reps need to “retreat” and meet together, in isolation, paid by who knows whom??? AND WHY does Obama need to say anything at this “retreat?” I think the taxpayers deserve some answers!!

They say Bush spoke at the rat house conference. Obviously they gave him advice and he took it. ;d I hope the house GOP doesn’t take Obama’s advice.

Ok... Maybe I am missing the point. I am a Christian Conservative and as such both titles "Christian" and "Conservative" dictate that one cannot sew new cloth into an old garment. We don't put new wine into an old wineskin.
You and those like you are trying to convince Conservatives that there is something to save in the Republican Party. There isn't anything that can be saved. The party is diseased. The only thing that separates it from the liberals in the democrat party is the name "Republican."
I'M a CONSERVATIVE. I am NOT a "Republican" any more. Those like Rush, Hannity, and others are telling us that if we start a new party that we will in essence be giving the next election to the democrats. Well news flash. We "CONSERVATIVES" cannot win so long as everyone keeps wanting to call themselves either "Republican" or "Democrat."
I am of the belief that MOST (more than 75%) of the citizens of the United States are "CONSERVATIVES". The problem is the "Parties" have kept us divided with trivialities and in so doing have basically ushered in what is sure to be the gravest time in not only US but World history as a whole.
Unless the Conservative American people repent for the fear of being labeled a "CONSERVATIVE" and unite under one umbrella of "Conservatism" and get rid of the illegal alien that has hijacked our White House you can count the days until this world as we know it is over.
The foundation of the "Republican Party" is broken. The party needs to be bulldozed and completely rebuilt. People that are "Conservatives" are not afraid of being called "Conservatives" regardless their party affiliation but Liberals all want to be called "Moderates." ***k moderates and the horse they rode in on. All moderates are are fence riders. They balance on the fence hoping that should they fall off they won't get hit by the trucks on whichever side of the fence it is they land on.
They are wishy washy, mealy mouthed weasels that would sell their own mother if they thought they could make friends and influence people.
There is no room for "MODERATES" in the "CONSERVATIVE" party nor are "MODERATES" welcome in what would be a party that called itself the "LIBERAL" party but alas here in is the issue. People have been conditioned into believing that Republicans are "Conservatives" and Democrats are "MODERATES" when in reality there is NO DIFFERENCE between the two parties and you think we can change that?
Sorry. I disagree. We cannot. Until we are open and honest enough to call a spade a spade we are always going to have a way for "RINO" like operatives to slip in unawares and like wolves in sheep's clothing they will seek whom they can devoure.
People like Rush, Hannity, you and others seem to be trying to protect a name. Forget the name. Get over the issues you have calling a lie a lie. Which brings me to a side note. Why is it considered rude to call a liar a liar? I don't get it.
Anyway, if you are going to give me a title you can call me a "Conservative" and if the word doesn't burn your tongue feel free to call me a "Christian" but don't ever call me a Republican. I've left that party the same way I left the nasty habits of smoking and drinking and.... I am now a man of character. My word is my bond and I only want to be surrounded by like-minded people.
Let me part with a little analogy. If my computer crashes or becomes obsolete I throw it away and buy a new one. I don't waste my time and hard earned money trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. I'm not interested in having some archaic piece of crap cluttering up my desk and slowing down progress.
The Republican party is no longer worth the time and effort, in my opinion, of trying to save.

I don’t believe everyone at this GOP function is stupid, so the only explanation is that they are traitors to the United States of America......just like Obama.

Some are missing the point. The Republicans weren’t always RINOS but unfortunately the RINOS have tarnished the name.
I know in my state the Conservatives have taken over the Republican party in force. Tired of the “politics as usual” and now good commonsense conservatives are actually taking part in their government, imagine that.

The Republican party is no longer worth the time and effort, in my opinion, of trying to save. It's not the party anyone is trying to save, it's the country. I'm sorry, it's idiotic to think by some miraculous virtue a valid third party is going to rise up and take over. When people have a hard enough time dealing with these two other lame parties why do you think you're smarter than Rush or Hannity or the fact no third party has ever gotten close to stirring up enough votes to do anything but damage the next best thing?
If you want to do anything start electing conservatives to the republican party and kick the moderate/rino's out!
How's that dumbass conspiracy theorist Jesse Ventura thing working out for ya?
