President Obama will address the House Republican Conference later this month during their retreat in Baltimore, being held Jan. 28th to 30th.
Obama was invited by the elected GOP Leadership to speak a few weeks ago and will take them up on their offer. ...
Despite that gracious tone, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor wrote this morning in a statement:
Though its welcome news that President Obama will speak with House Republicans later this month, it is important to point out that true bipartisanship requires working together on common-sense solutions and a mainstream agenda to help Americans facing difficult challenges. It is important to ask whether the President plans to meet WITH Republicans, or speak TO them. In 2009, on the rare occasion when we were invited to the White House, the President paid Republican proposals lip service while the cameras were on, only to completely rebuff those ideas afterward. The problems faced by our country have grown too large for the President to respond to Republican and Independent views and solutions with indifference, like in 2009. I hope this is a sign that a new year will bring change.

What part of “Communists don’t believe in touchy-feely bipartisanship” doesn’t this guy understand?
tagline change...
...and coffee.
Dumb Dumb DUMB. The headlines will all be “Obama reaches out to Republicans. bla bla bla”
This is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don’t situations.
ODIUS TO OBAMA
the life of POTUS in verse.
I figure he will do both. He will shake hands with them, then tell them how it is going to be wheter they agree or disagree since he has the majority. It will be a lesson well earned for republicans. For the few conservatives amongst them, they will have to eat cake like it or not. As for the RINOS, they'll likely bow at the mere sight of his omnipresence.
“Let’s play nice” worked so well for McCain, that it must make sense for the entire party to adopt that strategy.
Top 10 reasons why GOP welcomes Obama at their conference:
10. Several GOP representatives need to raise money, and think that Joe Wilson was really on to something.
9. Teleprompter at the GOP hasn’t worked right for years.
8. Its the only way the GOP can get the media attention.
7. Joe the plumber was also invited
6. What better way to gather TV ad material for the 2010 election campaign efforts?
5. Is that a mic wire at the bottom of the teleprompter, or a pull string?
4. They know he will just snub them like he does everyone else
3. Oh look!... reversible platform banners!
2. Lets see how he handles silence from the audience.
1. CAN YOU SAY “MASS WALKOUT”?
any other wishful ideas?
It’s like the British Parliament in the late 1930’s asking Hitler to address the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Totally ridiculous.
Big amount of white guilt present among these folks.
It’s like a cat inviting a dog over for dinner
What? Palin was booked that night?
You'd be surprised.
