I’m Afraid Sarah Palin Might Be Ruining Herself Unintentionally
RedState ^ | January 11, 2010 | Erick Erickson

...I am afraid Sarah Palin is going to harm herself unintentionally over this tea party convention in Nashville...

Let me be blunt: charging people $500.00 plus the costs of travel and lodging to go to a “National Tea Party Convention” run by a for profit group no one has ever heard of sounds as credible as an email from Nigeria promising me a million bucks if I fork over my bank account number...

Do you think Palin is making a mistake by jumping into this convention without knowing exactly who is behind it, and where the money will go that’s being earned? She’s already been cancelled by the previous SA convention.

I have no idea. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know that such a convention was scheduled until about half an hour ago.

You Palinistas would lead your girl to the nearest cliff and help her jump off it wasn’t for the rest of us watching her back.

Whoa there, Sunshine. I'm not a Palinista. I'd support her if she was nominated, but I'm not throwing a 2012 coronation for her or anything.

Its kinda funny really. The money the GOP is struggling to get seems to be turning up in other places like a million dollars for an ad against Harry Reid in Nevada or a mil.5 for Brown in Mass.

Compare that to the NY District 23 fight that the GOP funded a leftist for and the disparity is even more pronounced.

Why are you attacking people with such vitriol for simply disagreeing on whether she would be elected? How does that make us anti-Palin 'bots'? I'm not at all anti-Palin! I have her book and ASKED FOR IT as a Christmas gift. I just have a different opinion. I FULLY supported her on the ticket, VOTED FOR HER, and would have been proud to have her serving as VP if McCain had won.

YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME. I have been here since 2/99. Get off it!

Besides, 1Swashbuckler is lying there anyway, he is not and does not watch Palin's back, look at his posting history, he also likes to use communist style language to describe support for the most favored conservative politician.

Joe the Plumber would be perfect compared to the atrocity we have now!

However, we had a little chance early on in 'o7-o8 to get behind an honest-to-God conservative WITH a long history in Congress of voting against creeping Socialism/Communism, who was 100% strong against the illegal invasion and who was a true "compassionate conservative" without being a dweeby social-issues moron--lived in San Diego and personally took jugs of water to dehydrated Mexicans invading the border, but at the same time either sent them back or directed them to the path for legal entry.

The hierarchy of the GOP gave their thumbs-down disapproval for this man, and their lackeys plus the media acted accordingly, blocking stories favorable to him or encouraging disinterest--"not well-known, a dark horse", "not impressive"(meaning not flashy).

Whether he could have won against the Chi-ACORN machine is a question mark, just a hypothesis. Far too many conservatives dismissed him with, "Who?" "Nobody knows him", "he can't win!" Licked before you start.

His name is Duncan Hunter, was Lt Col Marine in Vietnam.

The real question is: Why the heck are you and the anti-Palin bots posting loony left propaganda and talking points without any facts to back it up?
And why the heck should you or your pals by free to post anti-Palain propaganda without being hit right back?
Now YOU get off it!

Palin was committed to attending a convention in San Antonio that was being put on by people with little ability to put on something of that size or importance. People were asking questions, and suddenly voila! It’s cancelled. The San Antonio party were able to hook Hannity, Malkin, and Ingraham too, based on Palin’s draw. They were charging more per head than Nashville. In circles outside FR, plenty of people were discussing it, because nobody could understand why Palin would so quickly agree to attend without knowing with who or what she was agreeing to. That Hannity, Malkin and Ingraham joined in, isn’t surprising, considering Palin’s endorsement.

Give us the source for this stuff so that we can catch up and take a look at your claims ourselves.

The Red State statements aren't all that clear concerning what their complaint is. I have read elsewhere that Sarah will be getting a $100,000+ appearance fee for speaking in Nashville at the Tea Party convention. Red State doesn't make that clear, but if that's not the case, what relationship does the attendees' fee have to Sarah?

Either that or the Red State complaints are more about infighting and jealously among Tea Party participants.

That article could have been more clear and better written to make whatever point they were trying to make.

> Why do you anti-Palin bots insist on ignoring the facts every single time in order to push your anti-Palin agenda

I am not an “Anti-Palin Bot” and I do not have an “Anti-Palin agenda”. I prefer to see Conservatives in the White House because it is good for my country when that happens. Unfortunately, I do not see Palin as being able to get there. You are free to agree with me, or disagree, it doesn’t matter a dam’n to me either way. If you don’t like my opinion you can debate it properly with me, or you can take a running jump. Either way I’m happy.

You seem to feel the need to attack me for having an opinion that is different to yours. Just like you did with “Trust but Verify”. You have a problem.

And hopefully a lot more will be turning up in Arizona for J. S. Hayworth, if and when he declares.

Was this the conservative Symposium that was suddenly cancelled? The site also said refunds were being processed—no further info. I haven’t been able to find out anything about this other than the cancellation.

These are posts I made when she was selected by John McCain. Kiss my ass!

Not only would she make a very capable VP, she will have an outstanding chance of holding the WH after McCain’s term. A truly inspired choice by McCain, who is running a campaign that far exceeds my expectations.

Those trashing Palin most likely don’t know a thing about her. If it is Palin, I find it to be an inspired choice. The conservative base will close ranks.

I’m going to this convention in February - I felt like shelling out $549 A. for the tea party and B. because my 3 favorite conservative women would be there and as a young conservative woman I figured HECK what an opportunity!

I find it amusing that Michele Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn are left out of this article’s title completely did they forget that they will also be speaking at this convention?

He was a Lieutenant in Vietnam, and the reason that he never took off is the same reason that no knew about him during the 28 years that he was a congressman, it was the same reason that he was barely known in California, it was the same reason that he never ran for the Senate, or the Governorship, he was meant to be a good conservative in a safe congressional district, not a national figure.

Can’t you . . . find “ordinary” people to run for POTUS?

Without disputing your prior observation, some would much prefer to find extraordinary people to run for the presidency. ;)
