Per FNC -Norad launched 2 fighter jets- Tyndall AFB, unruly passenger Muhammad Abu Tahir (#145)

Posted on 01/08/2010 1:25:46 PM PST by STARWISE

Neil Cavuto just read news crossing the wire.

Two fighter jets were launched by NORAD from Tyndall AFB in FL due to an issue with an unruly passenger on an Air Tran flight from Atlanta to San Francisco.

Hopefully, more follows soon.

Plane has landed at Colorado Springs airport.

A young man was taken into custody after the flight was diverted.

The man was thought to be intoxicated and locked himself in the bathroom.

The crew radioed the situation, and the fighters were launched.

Everyone's safe on the flight .. the passenger is in custody.

This is becoming distinctly unfunny. Do they plan to disrupt at least one flight in every airport in the Western world?

They describe Pakistanis and Arab Muslims born in the UK as Englishmen or Britons now, so who knows what they were? I’ve heard that Islam is skyrocketing among the British white jail population, too, so they could be anything. Odd that they were going to Dubai, though.

Thank you. It’s a little hard to tell what he is with just the palms of his hand and the top of his (bald) little head visible, alas!

Yes, you're right, and I think we all saw that when the "British citizen" was recently executed in China. The fact that the flight was going to Dubai is the pertinent fact, IMO, and that's what caught my attention. I suspect the 3 drunk Englishmen might actually be "Englishmen" and not Muslims, since Muslims aren't supposed to drink, right?

I don’t think there’s any connection.
Seriously, “loud drunks” are the last people to send on a mission.

Sky News reports “two ro three drunk young Englishmen” ...

Of course, we do not have their blood alcohol reports yet, but they were overheard making threats. Serious terrorists would not be overheard making threats before they took action, IMO, and likely the threats wouldn’t be in English.

“I experience vertigo...”

ROFLOL! Your words are great comedy. Oh, I have experienced that lovely variation on twist and shout. Don’t you wish there was some small vertigo ray gun - with which to arm the stewardess on the airplane of course!

It’s a strange story. Although we have to remember, as far as Muslims and alcohol, Mohammed Atta and his buddies were known for visiting strip clubs and sucking up vodka in great quantities.

That said, they must have gotten on the plane drunk, because the plane was still at the gate and I’m not sure that Emirates air even serves alcohol. But all things considered, it’s a puzzling story...

It’s a strange story because we don’t have any details. “”Drunk Englishmen overheard making threats” on a flight to Dubai still on the ground”” leaves too much to the imagination.

I’m with you. If they’re not Arab or Muslim, then we should have already heard that the three were arrested for drunk and disorderly and for interfering with the flight of an aircraft or whatever it’s called.

Exactly. My point was that if he was indeed Indian, he would be a Muslim, not a Hindu.

To people who are not very familiar with the appearance of Arabs (and all Arabs do not look alike) and Indians (ditto), they might confuse the two.

Problem is when people think of “Indian” they generally think “Hindu” which most are. So I was making the point that if the guy was indeed Indian, he would be a Muslim not a Hindu.

Drunk or not I always lock the bathroom door on a plane - then it says “Occupied” outside ... just saying this isn’t really that suspicious ... ;-)
