After a disappointing new unemployment report, President Barack Obama pushed on Friday for an expanded government program he said would help create tens of thousands of new clean-technology jobs.
"It's clear why such an effort is so important. Building a robust clean energy sector is how we will create the jobs of the future, jobs that pay well and can't be outsourced," Obama said at the White House.
It came as Obama sought to pivot back to the domestic economy after two weeks of being riveted to the Christmas Day bombing attempt. The larger-than-expected loss of 85,000 jobs in December, reported earlier in the day by the Labor Department, put new pressure on the administration to step up job creation.

Most failures would have the decency to lay low after today’s unemployment numbers, but our affirmative action flunky is tone deaf to what the country is thinking. Not even CNN is groveling as much as they were six months ago.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah!!!!
Venture capital is not an appropriate use of taxpayer funds. Investing in high-flying, bleeding-edge tech companies is something that people who are already safe and secure do with a small part of their portfolio, hoping to hit the next Google but knowing full well they will most likely get the next Infoseek. The government is trillions in debt, has no 'cash' to invest in anything, and shouldn't be trying to pick private-sector winners and losers when the history of governments doing that is abysmal. People should line both sides of every street Obama drives down, and yell "Boo!" at him for even suggesting something this stupid. |
Great! So we can build nuclear plants now, right? Right???
Sure...and that’s why just yesterday I heard a report that some of our latest green jobs (solar panel mfg.) have aleady fled to Mexico. With this administrations desire to unionize every new Green Job, our ablity to compete is going to be crippled...as more manufacturers leave to become competitive.
While I will concede that low wages are attractive to many businesses, what liberals ignore is that so many of their policies have destroyed the industrial base of this country. Liberals are doing to this country what they have aleady done to California; From environmentalism and over-regulation, to taxation and out-of-control litigation (we already have some of the highest corporate tax rates in the world), liberals have created a hostile environment for any kind of manufacturing. Combine all this with union expansion and their demands, and you have a system that just cannot compete in this global economy...Green or otherwise.
The only green job is a JOB that pays GREEN....
Didn't we already do that back in March? How are those jobs working for ya?
That statement is just, ... unbelievable. Words fail me.
Ladies and gentlemen, we elected a complete fool.
“disappointing” for about the 12th month in a row...where’s the “unexpected”?
