A poll of GOP insiders suggests that ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has little support among the party's professional class -- and maybe that's just how she wants it.
In a survey of 109 party leaders, political professionals and pundits, Palin finished 5th on the list of candidates most likely to win the party's '12 WH nomination. Ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney (R) was the overwhelming choice of the
Voters were asked to rank 5 candidates in the order of likeliness to capture the GOP nod. The results:
Likely To Win WH'12 Nomination (First place votes)
Ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney 81 points (62%)
MN Gov. Tim Pawlenty 46 (9%)
Sen. John Thune 38 (12%)
MS Gov. Haley Barbour 28 (6%)
IN Gov. Mitch Daniels 25
Ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palin 25

These “GOP Insiders” have LONG been disconnected from their [former] Conservative base, so the results of this poll are unsurprising. The “GOP Insiders” seem intent on keeping Conservatives OUT of party leadership, and content with permanent minority status. But I think the “Insiders” are going to get a surprise from Conservative Grassroots groups in local precinct and county party organizations — Especially coming this fall...
They ought to look at how many fans she has on Facebook...idiots
Are these the same insiders that brought you Michael ‘can’t win’ Steele?
I would like Sarah Palin to be the next president of the United States. Three years from now. Is there anyone who thinks that if she took the oath of office, she would not mean every word.
The third party route isn't worth a bucket of warm . . . spit.
If the "the old guys wont give Sarah a fair shot" then we have to take over the party. That's what must happen anyway. We will have to pry the GOP from the "old guy's" cold, dead fingers. Otherwise all we have to look forward to is Marx and Marx lite.
Sarah can’t be the Lone Ranger. Who will be her allies? A lot of behind-the-scenes jockying will occur as the potential candidates present themselves to the public.
Sounds like the boys club is being stubborn and not paying attention to what the people WANT! It doesn’t necessarily mean Palin but this list tells all.
When were they ever sweet on her?
LOL! This isn’t news! They’ve never liked her, because they perceive her as a threat to their power in the GOP.
GOP insider can kiss my white Irish a$$!
My suggestion Alan West / Sarah Palin 2012
Race card checkmate
Come gather ‘round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’.
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.
I’d like to see an article with the title:
Republican voters Sour on GOP Insiders
I doubt if Palin is losing any sleep over her lack of support inside the beltway. Maybe those “insiders” should get outside more often, and tune into what real people are thinking.
Okay, in reply to the insiders, this is me doing my best impression of that other Rich, the late, great, and greatly-missed comedic actor Richard Paul, in one of his best-known roles, Mayor Teddy Burnside of Clinton Corners, Georgia on “Carter Country”:
“Handle it, boys! Handleithandleithandleit!”
That would explain the results
Time for all these bastards to go. Actually, this news helps me. I will put zero reliance on Republican insiders here in my state.
Romney is done. I don’t know anything about Daniels, though. Is he a conservative?
:o)
So perilous even Galahad would have preferred Castle Anthrax to it.
