WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama signaled to House Democratic leaders Wednesday that they'll have to drop their opposition to taxing high-end health insurance plans to pay for health coverage for millions of uninsured Americans.
In a meeting at the White House, Obama expressed his preference for the insurance tax contained in the Senate's health overhaul bill, but largely opposed by House Democrats and organized labor, Democratic aides said. The aides spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was private.

That's the kind of health plan that normal, working, taxpaying Americans (the Republican "base") will need so they don't have to wait in line with the deadbeats, losers, and parasites (the Democrat "base") for rationed Mengelecare. It's just like all those "supplemental" plans the seniors on Medicare need.

This could possibly work in our favor by splitting the Democrats. Some of them are likely to rebel over taxing union workers, especially if they are up for re-election in November and need to keep the base happy.
Let’s wait and see. Don’t know what Obama’s reasoning is on this, but it could put a wrench in the health care debate.

It isn’t about health care! Just keep reminding yourself that this is about control, empowering the federal oligarchy until the Republic is no more. The end is near, now. Just two more pieces of the puzzle need be put in place and the American economy will crash as planned and the global controls will be enacted, with the blessing of the dependency class democrats have been cultivating lo these several decades now. The new currency has already been printed and is stored safely in Switzerland, to be doled out when the time is right. The global banking powers that be have graduated from Jekel Island to encompass the entire planet. America’s moldy old Constitution won’t satnd in the way, since the people no longer take thier sovereignty seriously.
There will be some sort of exemption for union programs until the government payor option goes into law. Look for the industries where unions carry their own insurance to be forced into insuring the union members in their companies, so the unions can be freed to donate more to the election coffers of the oligarch democrats controlling the state and dictating the laws.

He's let down a lot of his supporters. More fracture in the Libs is a good thing to help ObamaCare fall flat on its face when it comes up for final votes after their smoke-filled-back-room secret meetings, but before the State of the Union. Incidentally, the White House floated today that the original target dates of the State of the Union address, January 19 or 26, have now shifted to January 26 or February 2. No final decision on the date of the address has been made. Even money says he meets his political demise before then.

We have excellent insurance, not because we’re some evil rich people the progressives need to tax, but because we are responsible and got the insurance we needed. We both have costly health issues, and need the best insurance. I guess in Obama’s world you get fined or go to jail if you don’t get their insurance, and then us responsible people who do insure ourselves properly get punished with a tax for having something the poor lazy liberals don’t. Obama has to be fair....crappy health care for everyone.

Yep. Doesn’t the House bill give union plans an exemption to a public option? While that is dead (supposedly), expect to see the SEIU and other large labor unions given a pass on this tax.
Some of us have worked hard our whole life to get something better. He is trying to take it and make everyone dependent.

Great. We’ve assured that RACE will be a huge topic in our great-grandchildren’s history books. There will have to be some explanation for why America actually voted for someone who was quite obviously out to do away with the Land of the Free.
