Scandal-Plagued Democrat Senator Chris Dodd Retires at Lowest Point in Career

Scandal-Plagued Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut retires at the lowest point in an overly long, 35-year, political career. The son of a career politician (his father occupied one of Connecticut's senate seats for 12 years), Dodd has seen his already overly long, Senate career deteriorate among many scandal-plagued issues in the last few years, thus leading to some of the worst poll numbers of his career and a near-impossible matchup against his potential, Republican challenger for his seat. Though Democrats gave Dodd a big role as one of the primary advocates of the ill-fated healthcare "reform" pushed by Obama—how they seriously thought that would rehabilitate his damaged image is beyond me, considering Obamacare is very unpopular with the American people—it nonetheless failed to turn around his sagging fortunes.

True, but in the meantime, be very afraid of votes cast by a Rat who has nothing to lose.

You are all correct. I see the hand of Rahm Emanuel in all of this. It is nothing more than political strategy. The 'Rats know these guys are dead men walking. They got their "Mission Accomplished" from Rahm for ramming through health care "reform" (takeover). Now they're being jettisoned to make way for another 'Rat who can hold onto the seat for the next round.

The 'Rats did something like this in the NJ Senate race some years back. When it became clear that Torricelli was going down hard, the 'Rats (illegally) replaced him with Fossilberg. And of course the stupid voters kept the seat in 'Rat hands, because, well, Lousyberg wasn't Torricelli. This isn't the end of it, you know. Look for more moves like this leading up to 2010. Keep an eye on NV and Hairy Screed.

Now that Dodd doesn’t have to face the voters, he’s free to vote as much damage to the country as possible before slamming the Senate doors on his way out.

And that’s different from what he does normally how, exactly? :-)

Knowing the gall of these guys, Dodd will want to come back to save us from the fiasco he has wrought in a couple years. ;-)

Now that Dodd is completely free from any constituent reins and reelection worries, we have to wonder exactly what malicious mischief he might decide to unleash.

Maybe he’ll want to go out loved, but loved by whom?

the news Dem will be younger and more appealing. The new Dem will have all the backing of the Dem party and when the GOP points out what Dodds has done the new Dem will just say that was not me , we should not look back we need to move forward in a new era

what a crock

I’m glad you see it.

Seems while some are happy at the news then Rahm is doing what he has always done.

this new Dem will just say that was not me and nothing the GOP brings up will stick.

You watch now the new Dem will talk about new eras, the GOP just wants to play the blame game, they want to look back let us move forward in a new era.

I’m just stunned that the media and many , even some on here d not see this or what is gong on .

Will the media report on this tactic will they hell. We won’t win the seat now Dodds steps down as one thing the Dem voter does is to look at how the person says but they hear the nice smooth talking points and then they keep repeating those talking points to their friends .

If the GOP had a brain and some balls they would now mention all of this and make it a point so much that the Dem party cannot do what I said earlier .
Course the GOP will be two steps behind as usual and the Dems get their way

Actually, I think he will become a high ranking member of President Obama’s cabinet.

I wonder if they will rename that stadium in Norwich, Connecticut that no longer has a tenant.

Too bad. I was sure waiting to see the ads that would be made about him and the other Demonrats (that are jumping ship), to avoid those ads in the next congressional elections! They can’t win on the baggage that would be shown in ads. So they need new demonrats with no baggage. Barney Frank, Charles Schumer, Maxine Waters, John Conyers.....we still have them, so far!

Notice too how Rahm Emanuel is giving these slugs the boot plenty ahead of time. That gives them time to position their replacement candidates, like Blumenthal as not-Dodd, and plant that image in the vacuous minds of the sheeple.

The election is 10 months away. That is an eternity in politics. Emanuel knows this. That's plenty of time to patch things up with the stupid electorate. He's going to bury Dorgan and Dodd and Reid and whoever else he throws overboard and the media will go along because they always do. They'll end up praising Obama and Emanuel for their "courage" and "foresight" (in lining up new 'Rats to carry the flag) and spin it all in favor of the 'Rats. If the 'Pubs bring these names up, the media and the 'Rats will turn it back on them as "bringing up old news". By November, Dodd and Dorgan and whatever other 'Rats jump ship by then, will be "old news".

I love Laura Ingraham and rarely disagree with her but this morning she is just going on about how this is good and “the people” won....No “the people” are breathing a sigh of relief there is a new Rat that they can vote for with a clear conscience. These guys leaving is BAD news! A rat is a rat, and they will vote the new rat in! We’re chasing after shiney objects and playing checkers.

I call them the RAT party because they behave like RATS.
They feed on us, STEALING tax dollars that don't belong to them, but they thing we pay the taxes and it just belongs to them and they can do what ever they want with it. They stuff their pocket and the pockets of their family and relatives, they fill their bellies and stuff the foreign backs with money taken from the US and now Dodd will do what most RATS do RUN,RUN,RUN. Any signs of getting caught and the possibility of being caged they will hide the stash and RUN. They call it RESIGN and this way they can go out with a BIG FAT PENSION. Billions of dollars go out to criminals that have resigned from government positions, tax dollars that should not be funding criminals just because the resign. Their must be a call for BARNEY FRANK to REMOVED from office and placed under arrest for child prostitution, Barney Frank has used the halls of congress to hide from the law long enough. Barney Frank should be on Americas most wanted for his roll in child prostitution. When will Barney Franks DNA ever be used to match up DNA of young boys that have been missing? Child Prostitution should be right up their with the same penalty as TREASON, the death penalty. How many young boys have committed suicide or killed because of Barney Frank and his gay lover?
How long will the people of his state continue to hide this criminal from justice?

He wants that pension, he hasn't gotten enough of us yet.
He must resign because of his corruption, the only problem is, he should have been removed and denied his pension. Those that didn't call for his removal are illegally holding onto their seats. Members of Congress must call for the removal of the corruption or they to must resign.
SO JUST HOW LEGAL IS OUR GOVERNMENT? HOW CAN THIS ILLEGAL BUNCH OF CRIMINALS CONTINUE TO PASS BILLS. MY OPINION IS ANY BILL THAT HAS BEEN PASSED BY THIS BUNCH OF THUGS THAT HAVE HYJACKED THE SENATE USED THEIR POSISIONS FOR THEIR OWN SELFISH GREEDY NEEDS. I hope the families of these greedy scum bags will one day get whats coming to them for taking money that doesn't belong to them. Their all living high off the hog for now. They got the lawyers and they got the Judges for now but once they get before an honest court room they will get whats coming to them.
