Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (Conn.), a leading Democrat whose political star fell along with the nation's economy, is expected to announce Wednesday that he has decided against running for reelection this November, according to sources briefed on the decision. Dodd, in his fifth term, chairs the Senate Banking Committee. His retirement would be the second such announcement by a Senate Democrat in 24 hours; North Dakota's Byron Dorgan said Tuesday that he would not run this fall.

You mean, what is up that the media will refuse to tell us?
Dorgan, Dodd, can Nebraska’s Judas Nelson be far behind? (I like that!) Or maybe Dodd’s ethically-challenged compatriot in the CountryWide scandal, Kent Conrad?
I’ve noticed that. It’s like they KNOW that what they have done is NOT well received and they are getting out on their own terms rather than suffer humiliating defeat.
Good riddance to yet another liberal fgreakshow. Now...if only he were investigated and prosecuted. Also, if only anyone near him shuns him and his family. No forgiveness for this piece.
Maybe he/she meant waitress, instead. Now that Teddy K is gone, Dodd is missing the other slice of bread in his “waitress sandwich.”
What a p*ssy. Rather than man up and face defeat, he’ll slink away like the little slimeball he is.
Perhaps, but I think they’re just wimps that can’t face defeat.
With Dodd in particular, it could be more Countrywide stuff - a major bombshell about to break (as if it hasn’t already).
Completely agree. That is their strategy—get vulnerable Dems to retire, then get high-ranking Dems to run in their place. The sheeple here in CT will see the (D) next to the name, remember his mug from their TV and vote for Blumie.
GOP candidates are toast now come Nov in CT. Before this announcement they were almost assured a win as there is NO way a prominent Dem would have run against Dodd in a primary.
I’m glad Dodd is out, but long-term I don’t think this something to cheer about.
Him and about 65 others in the Senate. Maybe 10 more than that if we’re feeling frisky.
I saw Steele on Fox ‘n Friends this morning. He’s pushing his book....
Could be just fear of losing.
Could be a cushy job offer.
Could be that he’s about to be criminally prosecuted, or know that the GOP will do it once they take control, and he’d rather at least not be in a Senate chair when it happens. Heck he might end up on a “vacation” in a non-extraditing country when it happens.
This is a BAD thing, not a good thing.
The Dems will surely keep the seat now.
If we see Dems retiring in liberal places, they are doing so to try to help the Dems in 2010 by retaining the seat.
It worked here.
I don’t think we have reached 1994 retirement numbers yet, but probably pretty close.
Come back and fight you coward traitor.
This was kind of predicted with Dodd’s ethical problems leading up to 2010. Dems probably paid him and Dorgan off to get new faces and try to run a con on the voters, but I don’t think it will work this time. This is right out of the Rahm Emanual playbook IMHO to get new people to claim they are more conservative then they are in order to pull the con and keep the seats.
It is up to all of us to help expose the RAT con game.
Yes
A wise assessment of the situation.
Meanwhile, normal, decent folks like you and me keep on keeping on.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
