"While singling out travelers based on religion and national origin may make some people feel safer, it only serves to alienate and stigmatize Muslims and does nothing to improve airline security."
The Transportation Security Administration announced the strengthened security steps Sunday, saying that "effective aviation security must begin beyond our borders."
A senior government official, not authorized to speak on the record, provided CNN with the list of 14 countries subject to the enhanced screening for travelers heading to the United States: Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen.

Well, well, now, when you consider that virtually all airplane hijackings and bombings are conducted bu Moslems, what do you expect. If it were up to me, Moslems would not be allowed to fly at all. No visas would be issued to Moslems, and no conveyances carrying Moslems would be allowed into *ANY* port of *ANY* kind *ANY*where on US territory.

Good. It is about time we started concentrating our resources and efforts to get the biggest bang (pardon the pun) for our buck.

Unsubstantiated claim, and provably wrong. Statistically, chances are the next illegal, terrorist weapon brought onto an aircraft will almost certainly be brought on by a radical Muslim. Looking too hard at anyone else is probably a waste of time. Besides, the more we alienate and stigmatize Muslims travelling, the less they will want to come here, be here, or travel to/from here. That will make us safer.
Don't even start on "backlash" against Muslims. A couple of months ago I think it was on Mike Gallagher's show a guest quoted FBI statistics on religiously motivated crimes. Crimes against Muslims were running at about 9%, only slightly above Christians at 7%. (if memory serves) The overwhelming majority of religiously motivated crimes were perpetrated against Jewish people, 68%.
if a series of bank robberies was done by red headed albinos from memphis would it not be reasonable to frisk red headed albinos from memphis when entering banks ? Or at least ask if they have an alibi for last thursday at noon ?
If the bank guards, instead, began asking Sister Perpetual Mercy to strip for the cameras while the albinos are waiving guns in the background, you would have what amounts to our current “security” system.
