WASHINGTON GOP Chairman Michael Steele thinks Republicans have "screwed up" for the most part in the years since Ronald Reagan was president. And, he adds in an interview on the heels of his new book's release, Republicans won't win back the House in fall elections and might not be ready to lead even if they do.
That forecast of failure sparked a pushback Tuesday at the GOP's own National Republican Congressional Committee, whose aim is to elect Republicans, and delight at its counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

They guy is a RINO idiot.
The pr!ck is pimping his book.
Boycott it and the RNC. Donate directly to conservative candidates.
That’s the last straw.... that RINO needs to be removed.... NOW!!
So this statement by Steele doesn't surprise me - it's the classic lowering expectations angle, and keeping the base angry and excited. That still doesn't hold my disdain for Steele, however. He is a weak chairman and the fact that he's releasing a book when he should be out there promoting conservative policies and candidates tells me he's just looking out for numero uno.
Sarah might take the job under one condition ... That she will be allowed to toss Corrupt Republicans out of office.
That will be a day when Hell freezes over.
More likely, Sarah will take a Senate seat before running for President.

Steele calls for Nap sack — cites phantom GOP “leadership”
RNC Chairman Michael Steele was just on Neil Cavuto’s FOX show calling for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to step down saying he agrees with “Republican leadership” on the need for a new DHS boss.
One slight problem:
Not a single member of the GOP “leadership” except Steele has called for her resignation in the wake of the failed Christmas bombing leaving Steele out on the limb with the only prominent member of his party to make the call, Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.).
Transcript, with video link to TVEyes:
CAVUTO: Janet Napolitano is getting a lot of heat for minimizing this problem and maybe botching this whole situation. Should she leave?
CHAIRMAN STEELE: I agree with the Republican leadership that called for her resignation, yes. I think the risks are too high and the experience required to do this job is too great. And I think on both fronts she’s fallen short.
Actual House “leadership” staffers on and off the hill were none to thrilled with Steele’s latest gaffe, with aides saying it undercuts their credibility in questioning the administration’s response to the attack. And they’re particularly upset that Steele made the mistake while promoting his book.
STEELE NEEDS TO RESIGN!
STEELE NEEDS TO RESIGN!
All the while all conservatives I know are donating ONLY directly to candidates and causes, and zilch to Steele-et-al. Not when he finds fit to send a $mil to Scuzzy, and peanuts to Scott Brown.
Wonder if Steele still thinks the GOP Convention looked like a Nazi rally. What a moron.
Honest to God, I’ve never seen a less capable leadership. This defeatist nonsense is insufferable.
You’ll never hear the left making stupid ass defeatist comments like this.
If our guys can’t remember how to fight, they could at least take a few pointers from the unified Left.
Steele is an incompetent fool.
Can’t win? Wouldn’t know what to do if we did?
Honestly, who needs enemies when this is supposed to be your best ally in Conservatism?
I think Michael just now got ‘round to reading what I wrote on the fund raising solicitation he sent me last week.
“Sorry Michael. I’m sending my contribution this month to Scott Brown. November’s went to Doug Hoffman. Maybe you should talk to Dee Dee about returning the money you sent to the winner of a Margaret Sanger award and who was tight with the Acorn people and the unions.”
Yep, it’s a leadership problem, Michael.
When did he come up with that gem?
That would be the dumbest move she ever made in her entire life..and she doesn't make dumb moves like that.
Not gonna happen.
Keep your mouth shut Michael!
“Thats the last straw.... that RINO needs to be removed.... NOW!!”
How does that happen ?
The only positive I see is I believe 2010 is going to be such a strong year for us not even the RNC can screw it up.
Steele is an idiot.
And the biggest screw up of all is himself.
