“Hell start raking in 2-3 million a year as a lobbyist.”
WINNER!!
The only good thing I can say about Dorgan is his vote against amnesty in 2007, probably to get union votes.
Hey, sounds like ND folks might do some house (and senate) cleaning.
I wonder what ever happened to Pomerory’s nephew, the kid who called into Rush Limbaugh’s show about ten years ago to express some very conservative opinions? Maybe the GOP should run him for the Pomeroy house seat, whether or not the Duke of Earl seeks re-election!
“And another one down, and another one down...another one BITES THE DUST!”
Make us proud, ND! :)
Wisconsin has added TWO Conservative judges to our Supreme Court in the past three years; our LibTard Governor (Doyle, D, WI) is quitting and we’re pretty sure he’ll be replaced by Scott Walker (R, WI) who has carried a very BLUE county for the past two terms as County Executive.
If Republicans take the stance that they’re going to cut taxes and still keep services (albeit REDUCED) for the lay-abouts, how can they lose?
Little by little, inch by inch...
He was born in 1942 so he is like me 67 now and would be 68 running in the fall.
Hey Dorgan. YOU LIE!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn’t be surprised if his internal polling didn’t tell him to get out of Dodge before he is carried out. He just couldn’t face the prospect of ending his career in congress by being thrown out by the voters.
Older than I thought.
Bingo. No way he moves back to ND.
Byron Dorgan (D-SD)Thanks Freedom_Isn't_Free.
Add ND to this list of competitive or possibly competitive Dem Senate seats: ND, DE, CT, CO, NV, NY, AR, IL, CA, and PA. If we won them all, the Senate would go 50-50, and Plugs would have to break the tie. But if Brown in MA pulls off a miracle, wed have the Senate in 2010.
Thanks for the info. Hope NoDak does the right thing here.
Thank you for that good news. I hope that Conservatives replace all of these socialists.
Whatever his motivation, we know it wasn’t noble.
Maybe if Obama goes there to campaign for him he has a chance/s
Good. This COULD be two pickups. Pomeroy is probably the dems best shot. If he runs and loses for senate, his house seat could also be picked up.
Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele calls Byron Dorgan’s retirement a signal of democratic vulnerability. Steele released the following statement in reaction to Dorgan’s announcement late today: “Todays announcement by Senator Dorgan of North Dakota that he will not seek re-election in 2010 highlights just how vulnerable both senate and house democrats have become since deciding to walk in lockstep with President Obamas government-run policies.
“For nearly a year, congressional democrats have been turning a deaf ear to the concerns of the Aamerican people and as the elections of 2010 approach, many of these same democrats are deciding to simply leave office instead of risking certain defeat.
“While Senator Dorgan might be the first democrat to announce his retirement this year, I predict he will not be the last as more and more Americans start moving away from the democrat partys liberal agenda and toward the republican partys core principles of less government, lower taxes, and greater personal responsibility.”
Running the table will be tough, but lots can happen between now and November. We should at least have Sen. Filibuster on our side regardless of what the Ladies of Maine have to say. That should be enough to stop the madness.
Patty Murray is going to have a first-tier challenger in Washington State as well - former NFL player.
RATS are in real trouble, and Dorgan’s decision further hurts the DSCC... This is the easiest imaginable pickup, particularly in this political and economic environment.
