David Frum responds to Jennifer Rubin's article in Commentary titled "Why Jews Hate Palin."
First off, Frum is right that the poll that Rubin cites doesn't really prove her case because 37% approval from Jews is actually very good . . .
Frum then goes on to assert:
Palin excites intense support among a core group of conservative Republicans....She polls poorly...among independents.
I'll give Frum credit for changing what he considers Palin's core group of support from "social conservatives" to the broader group of "conservative Republicans." After all, with some recent polling showing Palin to hold a robust 79% favorable rating among all Republicans, you cannot really make the claim anymore that her core group of support is just social conservatives.
Frum also asserts that Palin polls poorly among independents. I suppose it depends on how you define "poorly" because recent polling indicates her favorability among independents is 49% . . .
I contend that Rubin's premise is flawed because the McCain/Palin ticket didn't do significantly worse among American Jews than the Bush/Cheney ticket in 2000 or 2004. However, Frum goes on to point out how well Bill Clinton and Bobby Kennedy performed well with Jews as evidence of....well, I cannot figure it out . . .
To conclude, I'll answer the question that I asked in the title to this post. The reason why conservatives and Republicans do not care about what you have to say is not because they hate you. It's because conservatives and Republicans doubt your intellectual capacity for the job of leading our party/movement to a comeback. But that's only the start of the list of problems.....

Is Frum seriously considering an idea that he could lead anything. First of all, his name is Frum, FGS. Imagine, Hi, I'm Frum. Powerful statement there, eh! And then there is his assured place in the Political Class, which Americans are not only going to reject, but string up over lamp posts.
I think the real and most fundamental problem Jews have with Palin is not her gleeful ignorance, but her willful divisiveness. More than any politician in memory, Palin seems to divide her fellow-Americans into first class and second class citizens, real Americans and not-so-real Americans. . .

Levin is the gold standard. Don't rely on endorsements or references much, but if I ever need to know about someone fast, Mark Levin is where I look.
He's Canadian. He can turn a phrase, and was one of Bush's most effective speech writers, but he's always been WAY TOO moderate.

I can't say that I'm attuned to DC/GOP power base, but my reading of the tea leaves says that he doesn't hold any sway, at all.
Frum's only redeeming quality is that he's more conservative than David Brooks. Of course, Olympia Snow is more conservative than David Brooks.
