I am a fan of neither Palin nor Frum, but given the choice, I wouldn’t side wit hthe son of Canadian socialists, who wishes to reshape the GOP.

I have never completely understood why, but it is what it is. I can only suspect that it is because so many Jews live on the Left coasts.

I have been reading Ronald Kessler’s book on Bush, “A Matter of Character”, Pages 137 and 138:

Karen Hughes replied that Frum was only a low level speech writer, who had only met Bush in the Oval Office a few times. Bush's chief speech writer Mike Gerson said Frum hardly knew Bush.
“Who the hell is Frum to even say this?” Bush aide Margaret Spellings said. “The only reason Bush recognized him was he saw his picture blasted on TV then thousand times. The president didn't know who David Frum was”.
Frum is a pathetic joke, an attention seeking jerk, and one of the most treacherous weasels one could ever meet.
Good because the McCain/Palin ticket didn't do significantly worse among American Jews than the Bush/Cheney ticket in 2000 or 2004.
Jews have always voted overwhelmingly for Democrats. Nothing new here.
I agree. Extreme annoyance is the feeling I have for Frum. He is not important enough to hate.

I think it has more to do with the concept of secular reform Judaism and tikkun olam, the pogram fear meets collectivist anti-pluralist bent of Ashkenazim immigrants from Eastern Europe from 1890-1935 and a natural distaste for Christian traditions which influence social behavior...and the concentration in large urban rather than pastoral areas.
I know that sounds like a lot but I think it explains why American Jews today behave as they do...considering how bright many are.

I loathe David Frum.
To loathe is my favorite. Hate is too mindless. Liberals really hate it when you look down on them and loathe sends that message. I’m not impressed by Frum’s credentials. I’m not impressed by the money he and his parents spent to get those credentials. I loathe what he is. It really hits them hard when we do this.
Maybe Frum has given that impression over the years to inflate is resume?
I'm not sure really who to believe. Until Bush writes and releases his memoir, we probably won't know for sure. I've read that many of the speech writers thought that Gerson (sp?) had an over-inflated estimate of his importance. I have also read that Frum was the central author of the "axis of evil" speech - and that came from people other than Frum himself. Clearly, Frum is an articulate speaker and skilled writer that suffers from horrible policy instincts. He's wrong about virtually everything he says, although he says it nicely.
Frum was trying to be a hard-line "role back the size of government" guy back in the Nineties when he wrote Dead Right. Of course, he isn't any more.
But I think the problem is more that Frum's an opportunist who's out to advance his own career, and that he's specialized in attacking other conservatives rather than working with them.
He's too full of himself, too much the rogue egotist.
Their disrespect and mocking of average Americans....came thru loud and clear in 08.
It is good they are at least exposed, so as not to influence us anymore.
To my surprise, it means something.
