A Month in the life of George W. Bush ( News and photos) January 2010
www,georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news ^ | 4th January 2010 | Snugs

Posted on 01/04/2010 6:14:59 PM PST by snugs

As a new year commences I am sure we all miss the steadying hand of George W Bush who in the wake of terrorism or natural disaster gave us a feeling of calm amid the storm, of someone in control yet a man of compassion. This was shown during late 2004 early 2005 when an earthquake and violent tsunamis struck the nations that surround the Indian Ocean.

I have in fact chosen his radio message from January 2005 as the quote of the month for the first monthly dose of 2010.

A man of conviction and compassion, not all did and do agree with what he did but most will agree what he did he did from the belief that it was the right decision and done for the love of his country and its people and not for personal gain or popularity.

I feel the stark contrast with the current occupant of the White House more so each day when I turn the TV on to see what publicity stunt the current President is involved in. Even his decision to send more troops to Afghanistan he felt necessary to qualify with a promise of reducing numbers within so many months, again reminding us of the difference in character between the current and the previous President.

I hope the following photos from January 2005 give you some happy memories of a time when things however bad seemed more manageable and achievable because the President was in control and defending America and all she stands for instead of apologising.

Happy New Year to all and God Bless America and George W Bush and what he meant to us all during 8 very special years.

It was AWESOME watching President Bush ‘do the rounds’ on the Sunday morning talk shows today. If only he could return to the White House and finish the rest of Obama’s term!

THE MEASURE OF A MAN
Jeannie DeAngelis
. . . In the meantime, with humility and grace G.W. Bush’s compassion and concern for the dignity of the dead and the dire circumstances of the living surpass the awkwardness of having to appear in the Rose Garden next to someone whose main concern is self.George W. Bush, like the modest Officer Crowley, seems more than willing to walk in the shadow of hubris if it means helping Haiti. Yesterday, George W. Bush illustrated to the people Barack claims are closely watching-—the grace and character of a deferential man of integrity.

I have tears in my eyes after reading Ms. DeAngelis' column. Bless her for writing it! George W. Bush is an amazing man.

"To even stand there in the company of unrelenting accusers means that Bush possesses the strength of character to put aside demeaning accusations and refuse to dwell on personal feelings in order to address the needs of a devastated nation."

We all have much to learn from him.

I LOVE that you transposed the name of the fund to Bush-Clinton! :D I was surprised when I saw it labeled C-B, but then decided they must have done so because C was president first. Your title is much better. :)

Thanks for all you do to keep us informed! Blessings on you, birthday lady!

OH, my, DrDeb! That Jeannie DeAngelis column is overwhelming.

We watched President Bush "heap burning coals" on Obama's head by his grace and kindness.

America......are you watching?? Look at the gem you threw away and the trash you put in his place.

God BLESS George W. Bush.

THANKS, DrDeb!

I knew the two of you would appreciate THE MEASURE OF A MAN commentary as much as I did — your reactions mirrored mine.

[Even though he is ‘retired’, President Bush must remain in the arena — we have so few men of honor and decency left on the national/international stage!]

Amen! My husband thought about writing GWB a note near the end of his presidency encouraging him to not think of himself as retired. We both feel it isn't particularly the right thing to do to sort of check out of productive society once one's working days are over. He wanted to remind GWB of his vast gifts he still had to give. I suspect that GWB knows that and feels a great deal of responsibility.

I registered at American Thinker so I can leave a comment for Ms. DeAngelis. (Have to get approved by the moderator before being able to do so!). So glad you posted this for us!

George W. Bush is one of the only men of honor left in politics.

And we will be fortunate to have another because of how the left savaged him.

I'm amazed, not only by his grace, but that he's still standing at all. He has an internal fortitude that can only come from the Lord.

Looking at the pictures of X42 and 43, time has not been good to Bill Clinton! I guess that’s what you get for leading a dissolute life. ;o)

The 10 Reasons Why George W. Bush Was A Smarter World Leader... article was really good, but do you think the people making the comments at the end are really that clueless or are they just being jerks? There was a letter to the editor in today’s paper that was just about as dumb as some of those comments. The letter made my blood boil at first, then I thought, “He was just trying to get people riled up” and answering him would just be playing into his hands.

Given that this article was posted in a UK newspaper, I thought the comments were surprisingly positive . . . After all, if 40 - 50% of respondents who read this newspaper give President Bush a thumbs up, then 60% or more of regular ‘chaps’ are thinking more positively of our president as well — a GREAT and growing trend!!
