Eight years ago, a terrorist bomber’s attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner was thwarted by a group of passengers, an incident that revealed some gaping holes in airline security just a few months after the attacks of Sept. 11. But it was six days before President George W. Bush, then on vacation, made any public remarks about the so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and there were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response was sluggish or inadequate.
That stands in sharp contrast to the withering criticism President Barack Obama has received from Republicans and some in the press for his reaction to Friday’s incident on a Northwest Airlines flight heading for Detroit.
Democrats have seized on the disparity and are making it a centerpiece of their efforts to counter GOP attacks on the White House. “This hypocrisy demonstrates Republicans are playing politics with issues of national security and terrorism,” DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan said. “That they would use this incident as an opportunity to fan partisan flames … tells you all you need to know about how far the Republican Party has fallen and how out of step with the American people they have become.”

Nice try Hari Sevugan. We are on to your tricks. It is our job to keep the Obama regime doing theirs. It is called the system of checks and balances. It works much much better than what comes out of a closed political system like Fascism, Socialism, Maoism, Communism or what you useless tools try to push on us.

By the time the shoe bomber struck, Bush had already proven himself. He’d already invaded two nations, locked terrorists up at Club Gitmo, and created the Dept. of Homeland Security.

Someone refresh my memory. What was Bush doing in the six days he took to make a public response about the Richard Reid incident? I bet he wasn’t playing golf.

Reid's failed attack was on Dec. 22, 2001. Iraq was invaded in March, 2003. The Dept. of Homeland Security was established at the end of 2002. As for when terrorists were first taken to Gitmo, I couldn't find an exact date. A Wiki entry says that detainees first arrived in early 2002. Some other sources say October, 2001.

On the economy, Bush passed up an opportunity to criticize Senate Democrats for blocking a GOP stimulus bill.
Talk about a change in demeanor. Bush was trying a stimulus (I'm pretty sure that meant "tax cut") and the Democrats were blocking him and he didn't want to get nasty and give them a hard time.
Obama is a child. Bush had faults, but he was a man.
