Heck if enhanced screening techniques work maybe they should try enhanced interrogation too.
As we have seen in the past, most of the people that have smuggled bombs aboard planes or exploded bombs aboard planes or who took over airplanes and used them as missiles, have been young men, usually Muslim, Palestinian or in some other way of Arabic descent or heritage, then in this manner profiling would be extremely useful. Also, we should start adopting the Israeli strategy, tough and time consuming as it is, with regard to airport security. In fact, it would behoove the entire world to start adopting the Israeli strategy as far as airport security is concerned. Furthermore instead of guns in cockpits issued to pilots, let us instead have air marshals on every domestic and international flight that leaves or enters the US. Moreover, let us start reinforcing the door to the cockpit of every single airliner so that even a grenade will not be able to penetrate. In order to make up the costs of such measures, the airlines must start raising ticket prices. Of course, this may mean that more business may be conducted by teleconferencing rather than flying. But it will also make the flying public feel a lot more secure.

I flew 2 years ago. The TSAfools had me and my mother take off our shoes. My mother is 72 years old and can barely walk with 2 canes. Two guys with backpacks, mid to late 20s, obviously mid-eastern decent (I’d guess Pakistani?, very dark skin, black hair, dark eyes, perfect English) went right thru to board. Now these guys were probably as harmless as mom and I, but to ignore them while you scrutinize a 72 year old near invalid white grandma is beyond moronic.
I totally agree with you and this post was critisism of the Obama Admin and DEMO’s as a whole for bitching about Bush/Cheney’s Gitmo waterboarding when it works to get intel and save lives.
What Obama doesn’t like is the FACT there have been more terrorist acts in the US under his watch than ever happened under Bush/Cheney after 911.
They are just trying what Republicans knew all along. Profile those that you can and enhance interviews with waterboarding if necessary.

According to a recent interview with an Israeli security expert, he was able to pick out the air marshal within minutes of boarding the aircraft.

I totally, totally agree. They are actually ANTI-profiling, which means you have a group you need to profile, but that group will sue you for profiling them, and they ARE a little scary. So, instead of doing the right thing, the most sensible thing, they gotta profile somebody to make it look like they are doing their jobs...so they profile your grandma and let the terrorists on board without even a passing glance.
This latest guy got on board WITHOUT A PASSPORT!! Why not make sure EVERYONE has a passport before subjecting EVERYONE ELSE to cavity searches????
You hit that out of the park. Anti-profiling is what has been done when middle-eastern looking people with wrags on their heads breeze through airport security while screeners disassemble someone elses wheel chair.
My fear is that within the next six months, more than one of those m0r0nic home-grown-terrorists are going to successfully blow up a number of airplanes.

Not sure of the point you are trying to make. We all know that most, by far, of islamic terrorists are in fact arab or black. It’s jsut the way it is. Every time I see on old white lady getting wanded it pisses me off.
Christian Lebanese or Black Caribbean folks are unlikely to be terrorists.
So, to avoid being painted as a racist, one should carefully select out those among whom a fraction intend us harm: Muslims.
That most Arabs are Muslim means that people appearing Arabic will queue up in Line B for extra questioning. Upon determining that they are Druze, Christian, or non-practicing muslims, we can probably give them the moderate search in case they’re lying. Given an extremist Muslim (knowable by way of questioning, background check, accoutrements, etc.) they go into Line C for the strip search.
The distinction is that it is not your DNA that makes you a threat. It is the virus in your head known as Islam that makes you a threat. If you have a virulent form of the mental virus, you get the third degree search, and possible banning from flight.
But the basis is the Islamist idea, not DNA.
That non-racial basis allows us to proceed with smart discriminatory screening that passes the “racist!” test.

And to round out the point, a white Islamist has to be identified and strip searched in Line C too.
For pure safety reasons, we really need the selection criteria for extreme caution to be Islam, not relative light reflectivity.
