Used to fall asleep when the plane left the terminal.
Woke up at take off. Then back to sleep again. No more.
Now I,m vigilant during the entire flight.

LOL, the ur-Newark. If anyplace doesn’t deserve any 50 cent hyphenates like ur- it’s Newark.

Newark, NJ area is like the armpit of America. I recently stayed at the Airport Holiday Inn...now the Ramada. Nightmare finding the place with confusing roads, hotel staff were rude, rather 3rd worldish, no one ever answered the phone live and when I left they didn’t print up a receipt nor e mail it to me like they said. New Jersey/New York area gets on my nerves anyway and I’m from there originally-—no thanks!

Cool! My husband and I feel the same as everyone else abt the terminal AND Continental (why do you have to go through TSA AGAIN when you make a connecting flight?) but still, how cool your hubby built it! Wow!!!!

I agree about the area around the airport. Crazy confusing. Hotels scattered down dead end routes. Frontage roads going to nowhere yet they seem to be labeled as major thoroughfares. No good places to pull over and get your bearings. Even my GPS breaks down trying to get to a Newark airport hotel at night. One wrong turn and you are in the Holland tunnel it seems like.

I experienced all you describe in my one visit to Newark. Definitely not a place to rush back to.

I hate to say it but due to a recent trip that forced us to go through it, we loved the Detroit airport. It was great - both ways!!! Loved it and would be happy to do it again...

Ever notice too say riding around Liberty Airport down Rt1 or Rt9 that often you have to ride forever to make a left turn with the middle road dividers. And finding a gas station for the rental car is a project. I travel a lot on business and by far Newark and Liberty Airport area the most confusing mess to drive in and around.

OMG! is that what it’s like? It looks like a death trap. I’d go insane there! No way would I ever consider flying now. The people there are extremely brave.

Wow— I just took a flight out of there to Dallas on 12/31.
Glad to have missed this recent mass of humanity-—

There has to be a better way to handle these situations. For example, everyone that goes through security gets some sort of stamp or something to indicate they’ve been through and cleared. They show it at the gate and if this sort of thing happens, they check people who are already on planes or in the gate area. No stamp (or whatever), then escort that ONE person off the plane. This is absolutley absurd!

It’s been years, but the last time I was in the Detroit airport, it was a dump. Maybe the good citizens finally fixed it up.

There are a few airports which, to use a Dave Barry expression, should be remodeled with nuclear weapons.
