The Watts Up With That website has a scary story about our melting polar ice caps. John Lockwood from Washington D.C. found an interesting article from the Washington Post. Here are some excerpts:
The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports ... all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard of high temperatures in that part of the earth's surface.
Ice conditions were exceptional. In fact, so little ice has never before been noted. Dr. Hoel reports that he made a section of the Gulf Stream at 81 degrees north latitude and took soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters. These show the Gulf Stream very warm, and it could be traced as a surface current till beyond the 81st parallel.
Where formerly great masses of ice were found, there are now often moraines, accumulations of earth and stone. At many points where glaciers formerly extended far into the sea they have entirely disappeared.

And remember our fright merchants are talking about GLOBAL WARMING, not some N. hemisphere regional effect. Antarctic ice is growing, so maybe we need to spend billions keeping the centigrades from fleeing in the wrong direction.

What fond memories I have of THAT!
Back in the good old days around 1988BC; that means “BeforeClinton”!
Snowmobiling in Yellowstone Park......while lying in the sack getting psyched up for another day on the trails, and watching the morning weather on the TV in West Yellowstone, MT.........I saw the temp hit -37 degrees.
But if you are dressed properly, it is a WONDERFUL experience!

Finally, an explanation for why the polar ice caps are melting that makes sense.
The icecaps might be melting, but darn it, they keep on refreezing when the sun goes below the horizon for months at a time....

Some one needs to start a non-profit to collect money to protect polar bears ....... from freezing. I can see the TV ads now after we collect enough money from the internet. Can you imagine the reaction from the globul alarmists? Truly a WTF moment if there was ever one.

How foolish can we be, allowing the world to end in 1922 by doing nothing about global warming, and now allowing it to end again in 2010?
Maybe in 88 more years there will be 100,000 Al Gore clones; enough to stop the insanity and prevent the world from ending for a third time!
