Abstract
For more than a year, Sarah Palin has been a national Rorschach test. The views expressed about her reveal the distinctions and conflicting perceptions of often antagonistic groups of Americansthe religious and the secular, the conservative and the liberal, the urban and the small town, the elitist and the populist.
And now, with the publication of her autobiography, Going Rogue, and Matthew Continettis The Persecution of Sarah Palin, the Rorschach tests are being administered anew, and with increasing fervor.
For her conservative admirers, she continues to exemplify independence, moxie, common sense, the superiority of the common American over the nations elites, and the embodiment of modern womanhood and Christian faith.
For her detractors, both conservative and liberal, she is uncouth, unschooled, a hick, anti-science and anti-intellectual, an upstart, and a religious fanatic. There is no group so firmly in the latter camp as American Jews. And there is much to learn in their reaction to Palin, both about her and about the sociological makeup of American Jewry today. While Palin enjoys support from some prominent Jewish conservatives, it is not an exaggeration to say that, more so than any other major political figure in recent memory (with the possible exception of Patrick J. Buchanan), she rubs Jews the wrong way . . .
Ask an average American Jew about Palin and you are likely to get a nonverbal responsea shiver, a shudder, a roll of the eyes, or a guffaw. Naomi Wolf, the feminist writer, sputtered that Palin was the FrankenBarbie of the Rove-Cheney cabal, articulating the mixture of contempt and fear that seemed to grip many Jewish women.
The disdain is palpable and largely emotional. While 78 percent of American Jews voted for the Obama-Biden ticket, it is fair to say that most did not harbor animosity toward or contempt for Senator John McCain; the same cannot be said of their view of Palin . . .
Now that you mention it....
JINOS!!!!!! LMAO
JINOS!!!!!! LMAO
I won't go into the reasons why here. Suffice it to say that they prefer faux smarts to the superior intellects of those who are commonsense and value a pure heart above an eggy head.
Many Jews have sided with the striped pants crowd for decades. Of course, there are millions of good people among the Jews. But I believe that perhaps the greater number are in the ivory tower camp.
Well they are typical libs, they cry about how people are suffering yet they make over 100 grand a year and don’t donate a damn thing. When they come to birthday parties, they bring a birthday card with no cash inside, its hilarious..they make so much money yet they can’t throw in 40 bucks for their own family members birthday. They are what you call typical liberal hypocrites
“Now please tell us why 78% of the Jewish voters supported Obama?”
The Jewish intelligence myth was killed by a hanging chad.
This Jew likes Sarah very much.
Im a Huckabee supporter, who I agree with more and who seems to be our best candidate for a lot of reasons,
+++++++++++++++++
Do you think he can weather his weak response to the WA State cop killer? Or was that a Michael Dukakis moment for Huckabee. I like Huckabee some, but I think he responded weakly and didn’t take responsibility for his actions.
RE: “Maybe we should start calling them JINOS. No jew that cares about Israel would ever support the muslim-loving Democrats.”
*****************
I confronted a couple of Jewish friends about this issue. Both are well over 50, born in USA, parents born in USA too. They are lifelong Democrats and just would never think of voting any other way.
When asking them about Israel, they claim they really don’t think about Israel and that they feel Israel is on its own. There IS a faction that disagrees and considers Israel the homeland, but I have not met those people other than a handful of Israeli immigrants to US.
So...I guess Dems will just always be Dems and my friends just shrug off the rest.
Getting everything negative about Sarah Palin out into the open this early on will probably end up helping her, if Sarah should officially enter the race for ‘12 POTUS. Sarah continues to be attacked from all over the place, including being attacked by some conservatives. So far, Sarah is doing well for herself, despite all of the ongoing attacks upon her and despite all of the ongoing attacks upon her family and friends.
“I am a Jew who voted for McCain/Palin, and I find this offensive.”
You should too, for two reasons:
1. That was a crass, stereotypical comment.
2. There is WAY too much truth in it, except that it is using the standard of labeling that is tagged on both Jews and Christians alike.
Join me in rallying both “Jews” and “Christians” to separate themselves from the JINOs and CINOs, and evangelizing the pretenders to the truth of serving the LORD.
I See My Hands was making a statement that is consistent with scripture (if you are willing to read some of Christian scripture, read the book of Revelation and see that the Christians are just the same as the Jews in ignoring the LORD and good choices), don’t take offense to the political incorrectness of the remark, because PC is poison. And brother, do not let those that mock or insult the LORD get to you. Pray for them.
Let’s just say that “one has to be highly educated” to believe in the things espoused by liberal democrats. If Obama didn’t have the diplomas that he has, he would not have been picked to lead the charge. Heck, he’d probably not believe half the stuff that he’s selling.
Sara Palin has long since proved she has what it takes to be of presidential timber. It would have been great of she had been able to finish her term as governor. (It would have increased her margin of experience.) However I do understand why had to resign. (Brilliant political move!)
She has shown that she has good judgment and is a leader.
This is what is required for the presidency. She seem to be particularity skilled at surrounding herself wit capable people. (Something Obama is abysmal at, which may indicate the choices aren't his!)
Also I am one of those people that think leaders are born not made, I particularly think this when I am forced to take the odd mandatory management class!
I don't doubt it. I am a staunch WASP supporter of Israel, and for many reasons I have decided that Jews are a very capable people who have succeeded in many fields, but when it comes to politics and judging other groups, they don't have sense enough to get out of the rain. NO common sense, and self-destructive in many ways, and dangerous to those whose security they might influence.
I’m a Christian but living in Los Angeles in the fifties/sixties went to school with many Jewish immigrants from east coast. They dominated my school classes, and most of my teachers were Jews.
They have always, always been nearly 100% Democrat in my experience.
And yes, MANY Jews are self hating, ignore their religion, eat pork, and don’t even think about Israel. They are liberal Dems first and foremost.
I really don’t think they have a problem with Palin in particular, seriously. I’ve asked a couple of them about her and they make a face just like all the other non-Jews around here who vote Dem make faces or spew hatred if they hear her name.
The article doesn’t give one word of explanation for the alleged hatred. Did I miss something?
Very true, as are pretty much all of them, from the vicious assault on Bristol Palin through Andrew Sullivan's trutherism attack on the parentage of poor little Trig.
If you are so degenerate and intellectually corrupt that you have to attack a three month old special needs child, well what does that say?
See my post #92.
Liberal Jews especially hate any conservative who is pro-Israel, because Israel represents the masculine side of Jewry, which liberal Jews lack. Israel is a living reproach to their surrender of religion, culture and morality.
And it's not that Israeli culture necessarily upholds morality on all fronts. But it does uphold martial courage and reverence for God, and that, in the American liberal Jew's eyes, is bad enough.
