Entering Familiar Territory - U.S. Marines with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment enter Combat Outpost Changalok, Afghanistan, Dec. 26, 2009. The Marines are in the area to provide security and develop relationships with the local population.
River Run - U.S. Soldiers with the 3rd Zone Security Forces Advisory Team drive their mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles across a river near the Pakistan border, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, Dec. 23, 2009.

I was very surprised at the quiet in the neighborhood. There is a big display downtown (the fireworks can be seen).

Pot holes are not too much of a problem til breakup. Snow and even ice fill them and smooth things out. BUT...in spring they seem to double in size. d:o)
