:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Critical Threats: Blank When None
Al Qaeda’s Yemen Connection, America and the Global Islamic Jihad

December 30, 2009 — The attempt to destroy Northwest Airlines flight 253 en route from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day underscores the growing ambition of al Qaeda's Yemen franchise, which has grown from a largely Yemeni agenda to become a player in the global Islamic jihad in the last year. Since merging with the al Qaeda franchise in Saudi Arabia last January and renaming itself Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), it has stepped up operations in Yemen itself, struck into Saudi Arabia, and now operates on the global stage. The weak Yemeni government of President Ali Abdallah Salih, which has never fully controlled the country and now faces a host of growing problems, will need significant American support to defeat AQAP.

Al Qaeda has long been active in Yemen, the original homeland of Osama bin Laden's family, and one of its first major terror attacks was conducted in Aden in 2000, when an al Qaeda cell nearly sank the USS Cole. A year ago, the al Qaeda franchises in Saudi Arabia and Yemen merged after the Saudi branch had been effectively repressed by the Saudi authorities under the leadership of Deputy Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Nayif. The new AQAP showed its claws last August, when it almost assassinated the prince with a suicide bomber who had passed through at least two airports on the way to his attempt on Nayif.

(snip)

The attack on the Amsterdam-Detroit flight also shows that al Qaeda remains obsessed with striking the American airline industry, a target it has gone after repeatedly since 1999. If AQAP has now been told by the al Qaeda core leadership to take on the job, we can probably assume that other al Qaeda franchises in North Africa, Iraq, Southeast Asia and elsewhere have also been pressed to attack.

WCG, that is an amazing report about the 2009 airlines incidents.

LESS than a dozen??

Remarkable...

That simply is NOT the impression I have.

Frankly, I wouldn't get on a plane UNLESS it was an El Al airliner, NO WAY ~ NO FLY ... I'm still unsure where I got the impression that I'd read lots and lots and lots of incidents where passengers were left on airliners, far away from the airport terminal during bomb-scare events .... I have NO idea why that has my been my distinct impression for several years.

Candor7 assures me that I am mistaken, and I trust him entirely.

Strange, hey?? LOLOL

Well ~ that’s what the ‘TSA’ reported - notice the AirTran incident is not on there - I will have to look to see if there are others (I’m sure there are) which are not reported as well.

I’m not flying anywhere either - mostly because I can’t stand to wait in any kind of line, I refuse to be patted/searched by some nitwit and/or body scanned. I am obviously not a terrorist and the sooner they figure out most of us are not the better. Every airline incident has been an ‘obvious’ perpetrator - not children, not grandmas etc.

Read page two for estimated wait times depending on circumstances.

These numbers still do not jive with reality.

Do you have these reality numbers, so that we can compare?

I remember once incident on Kingfisher about a young man pulling the emergency exit lever causing the door to pop open and activating the emergency chute.

I only have a vague memory of the 06 airline watches we did at the height of the terrorism scare - Kingfisher was a passenger link to another airline we were watching on routes from London/Paris to Reagan.

For starters:

Posted Report:
U.S. /Other Allied troop Fatalities Nov. 2007 11/11***Nov. 2008 1/11***Nov. 2009 18/14

Reality:
As of Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at least 836 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.
That is up from 774 on October 3, 2009.

Do the math. From October to November 62 Americans were killed in Afghanistan.
Sunday, November 15, 2009
3 Americans killed in Afghanistan
November 23, 2009

4 US service members die in Afghan attacks

The deaths bring the number of Americans killed in Afghanistan in November to 15.
October was the deadliest month for U.S. troops in the eight-year war, with 58 dead.

8 Americans, 5 Canadians dead in Afghan attacks
Dec 30, 2009

Nov. statistic is only compared to Nov. previous year and does not take into account ALL the deaths between previous years. It is a deliberate misconception that American Deaths are down in Afghanistan.

>>> "No statistics that I know of because if most Americans knew how extreme the infiltration is, they would never fly anywhere ever. I don't. I would rather drive cross country. They are also very ensconced in our food producing industry." <<<

Yes, I was very surprised to learn last year that the main kosher butcher in the midwest, in Iowa was actively recruiting Somali immigrants from Minneapolis to move down to some small Iowa town and work in butchering & meat processing.

Struct me as very peculiar, but evidentally not you --- I mean I knew for many years about Tyson and the thousands of illegal Mexicans, but I didn't realize what was becoming STANDARD PRACTICE in the few industries still left in America.

I think there are lots of CEOs who should be jailed, and don't even ask me what I think should be done with the crooks on Wall Street.

Pretty pathetic, hey??

Current day history is made by a tiny percent of the population who all got advanced degrees from ivy league professional schools on the east coast ---- and they snootily consider ALL OTHER AMERICANS as very beneath their own superior selves and laugh at all of house outside of the Beltway & Hollyweird as "bitter clingers" and/or religious fanatics.

Pretty sorry state of affairs -- and look at the devestation they've caused 3rd World nations -- they're EVIL.

Canadian Sources:
Afghanistan produces roughly 90 percent of the world’s illicit opium.
The UN stats for opium production are as follows: In 2001, opium production was reduced to 7,606 hectares and 185 Imperial tons of opium.

Fast forward to 2008, under NATO/UN control. Opium cultivation is now 123,000 hectares, with a yield of 6,901 Imperial tons.
****************
That is general. I have numbers that are worse. Going thru my files and will get them up here asap.

Hennie, the savfe way to fly internationally is to talke a flight to Toronto or Montreal and connect to your international flight there.

The Canadians still have a good airline security system.

Our country, the good ole USA does not have a functioning airline security system, They have a politically correct system which does NOT work.

So fly domestic to Canada and get your international flight from there.Domestic air travel is still safe inside the USA, but perhaps not for much longer.

Logan is a hotbed of islamic ground crews. They have access to everything from maintenance to food service and baggage.
This is known. No one does anything about it.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Which is why I fly out of Montreal, a two hour drive from where I live.

I haven’t flown out of Logan since 2005.

Canada has a functioning airline security system because they profile ethnic Muslims and check them carefully. The USA does not, but has opted for a politically correct dysfunctional security system. Its broke and Obama refuses to fix it.Result, no one wants to fly in the USA.

Obama is a treasonous bastard who has no intenton of protecting America. He wants America to suffer for its historical, allegedly imperial transgressions, which is why he needs to be frog marched out of the White House for the leftist marxist treasonous bastard he really is.

Candor7, you and I and others have been fighting this underground build of a muslim army for some time now. The government is complicit. We see, and we watch, but nothing is ever done. When anything happens, it is immediately covered up and/or isolated from the public. I don’t know how we can keep avoiding a real disater. They are trying and testing every little crack in our entire system. Sooner or later, the dam will burst and America simply is not ready for it.
