Two more men charged in plot to bomb subways
Snips: Two men already in custody were indicted on Thursday on new charges of participating in a Qaeda plot to detonate explosives in the crowded New York subway system, and federal prosecutors suggested that more people would be charged in the case.
Jeffrey H. Knox, the assistant United States attorney overseeing the case, told the court that it was likely that other defendants would be charged in the case, adding, although probably from overseas.
Snips: Onetime adviser to George W. Bush and Weekly Standard contributor Tevi Troy suggests that the federal government is indecisive over the best way to distribute its stockpile of countermeasures to anthrax and smallpox to the population. Maybe the post office could deliver these potential life-savers, or they could be distributed from designated centers. How about handy "home medkits"? The Food and Drug Administration has yet to even approve the labeling of the kits.
"Unfortunately, some public health experts and federal officials don't like medkits because they fear that people can't be trusted to use the materials only when necessary. This short-sighted mentality will make it much harder to get crucial countermeasures distributed appropriately when needed."

There was a massive earthquake overnight in Chile.
I would place a bet in Vegas that this country isn’t even close to being able to handle a bio-terror event - except those who are in the boonies that can stay home and are stockpiled ‘may’ be able to save themselves!
The MAIN messagethread was NOT in the Sidebar; I did searches on the words 'quake' and then 'earthquake' -- and had NO idea that the FIRST messagethread contained neither word.
Here is the MAIN FR messagethread about the 8.8 Earthquake in Chile.
VERY sorry to have posted inaccurate information; the following thread will soon have over a thousand postings:
Here's the main thread with hundreds & hundreds of posts:

This is probably not the right forum for this post, but all my FR friends are here.
I have been on the computer, phone, and e-mail since midnight following the earthquake news. Our son is in Santiago, Chile, staying at the San Cristobal hotel. (our company imports wine from there and he was visting the wineries) We finally were able to reach him about eight this morning. He is fine, but unable to get a flight out for a few days.
He said Concepcion was hit really hard. Please pray for the beautiful people there.
Stressful day for Mom, Dad and his wife.
Thank God your son is okay. Praying aftershocks don’t affect him and everyone else there in Chile. Praying for your son’s safe return home RR!
