Al Qaeda’s Yemen Connection, America and the Global Islamic Jihad

December 30, 2009 — The attempt to destroy Northwest Airlines flight 253 en route from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day underscores the growing ambition of al Qaeda's Yemen franchise, which has grown from a largely Yemeni agenda to become a player in the global Islamic jihad in the last year. Since merging with the al Qaeda franchise in Saudi Arabia last January and renaming itself Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), it has stepped up operations in Yemen itself, struck into Saudi Arabia, and now operates on the global stage. The weak Yemeni government of President Ali Abdallah Salih, which has never fully controlled the country and now faces a host of growing problems, will need significant American support to defeat AQAP.

Al Qaeda has long been active in Yemen, the original homeland of Osama bin Laden's family, and one of its first major terror attacks was conducted in Aden in 2000, when an al Qaeda cell nearly sank the USS Cole. A year ago, the al Qaeda franchises in Saudi Arabia and Yemen merged after the Saudi branch had been effectively repressed by the Saudi authorities under the leadership of Deputy Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Nayif. The new AQAP showed its claws last August, when it almost assassinated the prince with a suicide bomber who had passed through at least two airports on the way to his attempt on Nayif.

The attack on the Amsterdam-Detroit flight also shows that al Qaeda remains obsessed with striking the American airline industry, a target it has gone after repeatedly since 1999. If AQAP has now been told by the al Qaeda core leadership to take on the job, we can probably assume that other al Qaeda franchises in North Africa, Iraq, Southeast Asia and elsewhere have also been pressed to attack.

Boston Terrorist Boycotts Her Own Trial

IRATE MUSLIMS PROTEST SIDDIQUI TERROR TRIAL IN NYC

Global Voices for Justice, and members of RevolutionMuslim.com, are planning a massive protest before the federal courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in New York City in support of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who is on trial for opening fire on a US Soldier and being an Al Qaeda member.

During a typically stormy hearing last week, Dr. Siddiqui interrupted the presiding Judge Richard Berman, rebuked her own lawyers, and directed strident appeals to the courtroom which was filled with her Islamic supporters.
“I am boycotting this trial,” she declared. “I am innocent of all the charges and I can prove it, but I will not do it in this court,” she announced......

North American Muslims issue fatwa

I read the fatwa as a warning sign for muslims to ‘take cover’. I've also seen reports of muslims disappearing.

My take on all this activity is that it is misdirection by the muslims to try to disguise what their actual intentions are.

At this time, I'm suspicious of every rental truck (U-Haul,etc.) I see. I keep my gas tank at 3/4 full (pretty much filling up every morning) and have 4 jerry cans in reserve. I keep detailed maps and compass in the truck along with 3 days of food, a water filter, extra cloths, blankets, and defensive hardware. I'm always aware of wind direction.

Italy: Schools to place 30 percent limit on foreign pupils

Italian education minister Mariastella Gelmini has provoked a fierce debate by announcing a 30 percent limit on the number of foreign students allowed to enrol in the country's schools and universities. Unveiling the new guidelines for the 2010-2011 school year, Gelmini said the limit was essential for the integration of foreign students.

"Establishing a 30 percent ceiling on foreign students per class is a useful way to promote integration, because with this limit we can avoid the creation of 'ghetto classes' with only foreign students," Gelmini said. The education minister added that schools had discretionary power to adjust the limits depending on how well their immigrant students spoke Italian language.

Nigerian parents warn children abroad - slow down on Islamic activities for now
