The British hostage Peter Moore was dramatically set free yesterday after the United States handed over an Iraqi insurgent suspected of planning the deaths of five American servicemen.

Mr Moore, an IT consultant, was freed by League of the Righteous, or Asaib al-Haq (AAH) — an extremist Shia group allied to Iran — after 31 months and spent his first night of freedom at the British Embassy in Baghdad. He is expected to fly home today.

That was the exact same phrase that popped into my head.

I can hardly believe it. I don’t know who the freed guy is, and I am glad for him, but...this will have far, far reaching implications.

Obama is going to discover (what many of us already recognize) that extending a hand to those people will result in a bloody stump.

Or worse.

Of course, he won’t suffer. We are all going to suffer.

I'm sure the Iraqi insurgent was embedded with a tracking device by the Obamarama’s team to fight Global Man Made Disasters so we can track and kill him and his buddies later.

“Negotiating with Terrorists
The Obama administration ignores a longstanding — and life-saving — policy.”

By Andrew C. McCarthy

SNIPPET: “As the Iranian government’s murderous repression of the Iranian people continues, critics right and left agitate over the deafening silence of an American president who, as a candidate, derided the Bush administration’s ambitious democracy promotion as too timid. They speculate as to why Barack Obama won’t speak out: Why won’t he condemn the mullahs? Is he daft enough to believe he can charm the regime into abandoning its nuclear ambitions? Does the self-described realist so prize stability that he thinks it’s worth abandoning the cause of freedom — and the best chance in 30 years of dislodging an implacable American enemy?

In truth, it’s worse than that. Even as the mullahs are terrorizing the Iranian people, the Obama administration is negotiating with an Iranian-backed terrorist organization and abandoning the American proscription against exchanging terrorist prisoners for hostages kidnapped by terrorists. Worse still, Obama has already released a terrorist responsible for the brutal murders of five American soldiers in exchange for the remains of two deceased British hostages.

Prepare to be infuriated.”

SNIPPET: “Unquestionably, Iran, acting through the Qazali network — which is better known as Asaib al-Haq, or the League of the Righteous — was responsible for the murder of our troops in Karbala. As Ledeen documents in his book The Iranian Time Bomb (reviewed here), Gen. David Petraeus made that clear at an April 2007 press conference. Petraeus detailed that the Qazali brothers were among “the key members” of a network of “extremist secret cells.” These groups, he said...”

SNIPPET: “About two weeks ago, the Obama administration released Laith Qazali after extensive negotiations with the Asaib al-Haq terror network. “

“Peter Moore freed after US hands over Iraqi insurgent”

Alice Fordham in Baghdad

SNIPPET: “David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, said that officials had worked tirelessly to secure his release but strongly denied that the British Government had given ground to his captors. He said: “There were no concessions in this case. There was no — quote, unquote — deal.”

Foreign and Commonwealth Office sources confirmed, however, that the transfer from US custody a few days ago of Qais al-Khazali, a cleric and commander of AAH, helped to pave the way for Mr Moore’s release. They also admitted that British diplomats had been pressing the US to hand over al-Khazali to the Iraqi administration. The insurgent leader, who is suspected of helping to plan an attack that killed five US servicemen in Karbala.”

The BND and Stasi went in circles doing this for years.
Unfortunately, when you pay money (or a murderer of 5 innocent lives) to release one person, the other side will gain the resources to capture 2 more. Then you pay to get them released and the other side gains the resources to capture 4 more.

You can’t blame the prisoner who’s released for the future prisoners who will be taken, but this is really a game of lose-lose that we should not be playing.

Another reason to capture terrorists, interrogate them for as long as needed, then kill them, grind them into sausage and feed them to the hogs without ever announcing their capture, detention or fate.
