Obama Admin Debated Whether to Tell Public 'System Failed' in Christmas Terror Attack

The Obama administration spent Christmas weekend in an internal debate over whether to tell the American people the government failed to protect airline passengers in the wake of the terror attack on Northwest Airlines flight 253, according to the Wall Street Journal.

That explains the stupifying message by Obama spokespeople on Sunday that the 'system worked'.

The statement followed three days in which the White House had delegated public responses to subordinates. Officials debated over the weekend whether to state publicly that the security system had failed, according to a senior counterterrorism official.

The dilemma was on display Monday when Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appeared to backpedal from televised comments over the weekend in which she declared that, once the attack happened, "the system worked." Ms. Napolitano conceded Monday that the system didn't work in allowing a terrorist onboard the plane. She said her earlier comments were taken out of context.

Also on Sunday, White House Press Secretary repeated the initial administration line on CBS News' Face the Nation:

I do think, though, that, in many ways, this system has worked. We just have to continue to keep refining it and stay ahead of what terrorists are trying to do.

Yes, Mr. and Mrs. America, they really think we're that dumb. Yet, it is the best and the brightest populating the Obama administration who are dumb enough to think that they could tell the American people "the system worked" and get away with it.

Not only is Obama weakening us overseas with his constant apologizing for America [until very recently], he is now jeopardizing our domestic security by trying to spin terrorist attacks as the acts of a “lone wolf.” His utter disregard for the American public is a sad, but typical, commentary on the left wing elitists. Further, we need to focus all of our efforts on the enemy and not be distracted by the CYA behavior emanating from the White House. That kind of thinking has a way of embedding itself throughout the system!

Most of all, I am personally incensed at his constant use of legal jargon and implications that these are judicial matters and not military matters.

The bomber should not be “alleged” to have attempted to blow up the plane, he was caught in the act. Nor should he be a “suspect”. He is, in fact, a terrorist, part of an international conspiracy of militant Islamists out to destroy us. It is not a court case, it is a war!

Despite being on TV almost every day of the year, often for the most inane reasons, our President was no where to be found for three days after what would have been, if successful, the worst terrorist attack on the US since 9-11. Need I remind anyone here of the criticism that Pres. Bush took for taking just a minute or two to compose himself and his thoughts after being notified [in public view, no less] of the 9-11 attack. Where are the naysayers to hold Obama’s feet to the fire? Conveniently, many in the White House press corps are in Hawaii. Now who would want to jeopardize a wonderful junket such as that by printing bad things about Obama. Sounds like the White House cleverly used taxpayer money to influence [I prefer bribe] another possible critic.

Anyway, one of the central tenets of the book was this question of “truth”. He stated if a statement furthered the communist movement, it could not possibly be a lie, as it was known to them to be the “Marxist-Leninist truth”. Therefore, the could say with a reasonably straight face that they were telling the “truth”.

That is exactly what I learned in dealing with average leftists. Truth = what furthers their agenda, thus anything contrary to their goals/worldview is a lie.

They create their own reality and then pride themselves in their tolerance - that is, they will put up with the non-believers until the non-believers either believe, or prove themselves too stubborn to convert. That way the Marxists can in good conscience justify and perpetrate evils upon those who knowingly reject the "truth".

This I learned from listening very carefully to a pompous in-law. She wasn't even speaking of politics, just explaining her abject disgust/anger/mistreatment of somebody or other. At whatever point this Marxist decided that other person was unreasonable and beyond hope (i.e. would not submit)... all civility was off. Creepy.

After that casual conversation I understood the mechanism behind man's inhumanity to man. It reduces to a lust for power and control at the individual level. Explains why the government does what it does, and why its supporters approve. Supporting a corrupt lying politician is perfectly acceptable if that congressman is "working for them". Tribalism.
