Thorium (pronounced /ˈθɔəriəm/, THOHR-ee-əm) is a chemical element with the symbol Th and atomic number 90. Thorium is a naturally occurring, slightly radioactive metal. It is estimated to be about three to four times more abundant than uranium in the Earth's crust. snip... Powdered thorium metal is pyrophoric and will often ignite spontaneously in air. Natural thorium decays very slowly compared to many other radioactive materials, and the alpha radiation emitted cannot penetrate human skin meaning owning and handling small amounts of thorium, such as a gas mantle, is considered safe. Exposure to an aerosol of thorium can lead to increased risk of cancers of the lung, pancreas and blood, as lungs and other internal organs can be penetrated by alpha radiation. Exposure to thorium internally leads to increased risk of liver diseases...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorium

Any relation to Thor the God of Thunder?

I think we should be drilling holes in every place we can that might even POSSIBLY lead to an AMERICAN oil reserve first...including my own backyard...THEN...shouldn’t we be searching for Dilithium Crystals?

Dilithium, also known as radan is an element, a member of the hypersonic series, mostly occurring as crystalline mineral. It was used to power the warp drive systems of many starships. Dilithium regulated the matter/antimatter reaction in a ship’s warp core because of its ability to be rendered porous to light-element antimatter when exposed to high temperatures and pressures. It controls the amount of power generated in the reaction chamber, channeling the energy released by mutual annihilation into a stream of electro-plasma.

Cobalt thorium G has a radioactive halflife of ninety three years. If you take, say, fifty H-bombs in the hundred megaton range and jacket them with cobalt thorium G, when they are exploded they will produce a doomsday shroud. A lethal cloud of radioactivity which will encircle the earth for ninety three years!

100%. The element is named after Thor, so it says in the article.

I hafta say, this is the closest thing I know of to a green power technology which might actually have transformative potential. Windmills sure ain't it . . .

Sorry, I’m not well versed enough in this subject to paraphrase and if I copy pertinent points from the article the Cunningham police will show up.

Well, I was hoping for the Plam d’or, but... I accept...on behalf of all the “little brains” who have made this award possible...

I know my periodic table fairly well so i guess your Dilithium Crystals are some sort of humour of which kind i do not know..
If you want to drill for oil in your backyard what is stopping you?
Want a hand out?

It’s great but it doesn’t matter,

They could find a nuclear element that’s waste product is chocolate pudding and the greens would still have a problem with it.

The environmental movement is not about saving the environment, it’s about stopping American capitalism.
