DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up the Amsterdam-Detroit flight this week demonstrated that "the system worked."

Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who sought to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the flight, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."

Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the bomber] was improperly screened."

I would like to hear an in-depth, detailed analysis of exactly how the "system worked." Everything I have read and heard illustrates in spades that the system DID NOT work.

Methinks Ms. Napolitano may be a perfect example of the Peter Principle in action. Unfortunately, it seems that trait infects just about all senior members of nobama's administration, including The One himself.

This group, taken as a whole is a good example of Peter's Corollary, "in time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out his duties".

This means, when "it" hits the fan, the only people we can count on is "you and me" (and you'll have to convince me that YOU are prepared). This is why I have a carry permit. I'm told I don't need one because the "police" will protect me. Yep, they'll give me about the same level of protection as the people on this aircraft got by a "system that was working properly". Thank you, I'll "draw and fire" then call 911 and let them fill out the reports!

Last week on Hilton Head Island, a guy found his house being burglarized, tv's all stacked up. Ran back outside to call 911. The cops came 9 minutes later, (and excellent response time!). The thieves had escaped out the back door ... WITH THE TV's. The "system" worked, it just didn't "prevent" the problem. Its up to YOU and ME!

Our system was not set up to handle amoral people in high elected office. One of the many flaws in Republican government. The founders understood this well, and said there was nothing that could be done to prevent a person of poor character from being elected President.

Evil cannot be easily stopped. Read the history of Fascists FDR and see what happens. It took years to even slow it down. Another point to research is Hitler's rise to power.
