Well experts disagree with you, his seat was over the main fuel tank and if the fire had managed to catch the wall of the plane on fire according to “experts” it most likely would have managed to explode that tank... and as to why AQ would take credit.. come on now, they love to take credit where credit is due and this is coming from one of the real AQ websites (per Catherine Heridge Fox News)... and Yemen is now the Afghanistan of the region where AQ is concerned...
Plenty of facts were determined before 90 (or 180) minutes transpired. Also the president's decision making functions include functions that occur before all the facts are known.

For 8 years I worked in the military with explosives and I am telling you the amount he had and what he had was enough to blow the plane up

I read one article that compared PETN to nitroglycerine. What do you say about that? No fair googling!
From what I read he had about 80 grams of powdered PETN (about 2.5 ounces). I don't know what the other substance was. Det cord often has 25-50 grams per foot. Not that I'd want to have a couple or three of feet of det cord in my lap, but that wouldn't bring down an aircraft.
As you should well know, 2.5 ounces of PETN goes up in a flash, in a split second. Unconfined it would probably flare and be extremely frightening in the confinement of an aircraft.
