A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.
Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

Of course he will get a pass from the left and the media. That does not mean we should give him a pass - by “we” I mean conservative blogs, forums, conservative news sites and talking heads.
We hold Obama to the same “standard” they left held Bush43 too, and give him the same amount of respect they gave former Pres. Bush.
Obama conducts himself as a ceremonial figure. If he wants to be this, he should first resign. He seems not to understand that serving presidents are actually supposed to do something.
Of course he should have been briefed. If we believe the reports that he wasn’t, the question of why becomes very interesting.
It is this liberal view of the world that if we just talk together we can all get along. I think it is fine that civilized nations use diplomatic means to resolve issues between them, where possible, but where is it written that all issues are resolvable or that we have to try to get along with folks who have declared that they cannot get along with us, or that there is anything wrong with the deterrent effect of absolute fear. If it is ok for nuns it is ok for the US government.
Apples and oranges. Do you have statistics comparing Christmas day flights in other years? It would seem that Christmas day would be a particularly SLOW day for air travel, as most people in the US are at home.

It’s both the 3+ hour missing in action prez AND the government run media’s concerted effort - probably coordinated by rahm and axelrod’s phone calls or emails, to remove 3+ hour time frame reference.
Where was the O for 3+ hours and what coordination is going on between the White House and the government controlled media to prevent the truth from being exposed?

I’ve said it over and over, this has nothing to do with what Obama would have/could have done.
First it was Obama not being briefed until 3 hours after the plane landed; a completely unacceptable situation that only proves to our enemy Obama is weak and does not take terrorism seriously.
Combine that with the Post’s cover-up and I at least wonder what else has Obama not been briefed on that is directly related to national security?
C’mon, what’s more important? His job as Commander in Chief or the pickup basketball game? I think we all know the answer to this so inbound the ball and lets play!!!

they were seconds from being killed I’d say that was almost being killed .
If the device had worked right away and if the folks had no jumped on him then they’;d be dead and yes that means they almost died.
I hope this means we can refer to the hero of this flight as the Flying Dutchman.
