A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.
Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

There was nothing out of the ordinary about Flight 253 on Friday until it was on final approach to Detroit, said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory. That is when the pilot declared an emergency and landed without incident shortly thereafter, Cory said. The plane landed at 12:51 p.m. EST.
The plane landed at 7:51 AM Christmas morning HI time zone.
What was Obama doing? Why wasn’t he in touch with his secret service?
When did the news first report this? So O wasn’t informed of the terrorist attack until around 11AM HI time, or 4PM Detroit time? Something seems fishy. THREE HOURS !!!
This is his first time in a long time to have some major privacy and really let it all hang out so to speak. Was he sleeping? Surely the Secret Service would wake him. Or were they literally unable to reach him? There were times he visited one of his friends in Chicago during the campaign, and his Secret Service had to wait outside.
Hope someone digs and asks exactly where he was and what he was doing.

I’d rather have terrorists dead than to go through our legal process. And you know, more terrorists will be dead than detained due to obama. Why mess with that crap?
Don’t be upset! Why tell Obama at all? What is he going to do other than screw things up?

This entire fabricated incident is outrageous.
This is another instance of government theft.
This poor Nigerian was simply coming to the states as a courier bringing me my $25,000,000 that was being held for me after I sent that $10,000 for the insurance to that poor widow in Nigeria.

Not his job, this belongs to someone else. WTH? Do you think the President is supposed to call all the shots?
Immediatly contact the FAA, NTSB, FBI, CIA and all groups who have a part in protecting us from terrorism as well as airline security to find out what needs to be done.
Again, not his job, there is already a plan in place and they are working the plan. WTH? Do you really expect the president to manage everything that happens?
Initiate an immediate investigation into how a person who is on the Terrorist Watch List and/or No Fly List (Depending on the source) got on a plane heading to the US with exploive materials?
Again, NOT HIS JOB? And what kind of idiot would think that it would take presidential action to initiate an investigation? WHT? Do you think the president has to do everything himself?
Contact the passengers/crew and give his thanks.
Not a bad idea, but it might be nice to allow time for an investigation first to determine the facts.
Or, just be a leader.

Did you have those same expectations of Bush when Richard Reid made his move? Do you think that no one moved until Bush told them to? Do you think that no one investigated without presidential order? Did Americans expect Bush to call and thank anyone or hold press conferences or demonstrate leadership?
It is the people Obama chose who did’t tell him until 3 hrs. after.
Obama and his people are all the same. They hate America, and believe there is no threat period.
We are at war, the enemy was in an American plane, setting off a an explosive to take down and kill dozens of Americans in a plane.
To bump his poll numbers, he would have hopped a plane back from Hawaii and gone on national television over-dramatising it. The truth is, he is a puppet, and no one cares, least of all him, whether he is told or not about anything relating to national security. That’s what the gubmint folks are for.
