A male passenger reportedly linked to terrorist organization al-Qaeda ignited a powdery substance prior to landing on a Delta Airlines flight to Detroit Friday. The suspect is believed to be Nigerian, Fox News reported.
Several people were hurt and one person was admitted to the University of Michigan Medical Center at Ann Arbor, hospital spokeswoman Tracy Justice said. An emergency was declared aboard the flight, operated as Northwest flight 253, according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson.
The suspect, who suffered second-degree burns, told federal investigators he was directed by al-Qaeda, though authorities are questioning the veracity of that statement, ABC reported. A federal situational awareness bulletin noted that the explosive was acquired in Yemen with instructions as to when it should be used, ABC said.

Good line. I may appropriate it and pretend it was mine.

Must have wanted to take a spin around Eau Claire, WI.
Why didn’t the people wait for the proper authorities? Don’t they know it is WRONG to take your own safety into your own hands and stop someone like this? someone could have gotten hurt?!?!?!!!
Remember this. Once again reality points out that the superbureaucracy of the Homeland Security Agency and all the TSA agents can’t protect you even today.
Time to reject the idea that your safety is the priority of anyone in government, even if they have Orwellian signs in airports proclaiming how important it is.
Maybe Obama will have a beer with the terrorist and the security people who arrested him... should he invite the ticket agents who sold the no-fly-listee his ticket too?

Damn scary. Yet CNN seems to be the only one having this at the top of the hour as of 6 pm ET. Fox is not covering it and local news hasn’t mentioned it yet. You’d think it would be big news.
OK! :-)
I guess CAIR’s going to be suing some of these passengers and the airline for Islamophobia, with Holder filing a friend-of-the-terrorists brief from DC.
What a shame. I was hoping the man said he would not be taken alive.
Nothing to see here, move on.

“What a shame. I was hoping the man said he would not be taken alive.”
One can hope for a right hand amputation..
I can’t even get a bottle of scotch on, but Al Qaida can get explosives on still...
Airport security in Amsterdam seems to be about as tight as our southern border.
This sort of thing is stunning for Schipol. They have always had very tight security....
