And tidings of comfort and joy from Harry Reid too. The Senate Majority Leader has decided that the last few days before Christmas are the opportune moment for a narrow majority of Democrats to stuff ObamaCare through the Senate to meet an arbitrary White House deadline. Barring some extraordinary reversal, it now seems as if they have the 60 votes they need to jump off this cliff, with one-seventh of the economy in tow.
Mr. Obama promised a new era of transparent good government, yet on Saturday morning Mr. Reid threw out the 2,100-page bill that the world’s greatest deliberative body spent just 17 days debating and replaced it with a new “manager’s amendment” that was stapled together in covert partisan negotiations. Democrats are barely even bothering to pretend to care what’s in it, not that any Senator had the chance to digest it in the 38 hours before the first cloture vote at 1 a.m. this morning. After procedural motions that allow for no amendments, the final vote could come at 9 p.m. on December 24.
Even in World War I there was a Christmas truce.”
As he spends us into bankruptcy, the federal government will reach the same condition as cities and states - it will no longer be able to afford to defend us.
As our cities and states have spent themselves into bankruptcy, and can no longer afford to fight crime, even if they had the will to do so, a bankrupt federal government will lose the ability to defend us against foreign and domestic enemies, and the civilized world will be sorry.

Amen again. Hugh Hewitt was reading this commentary today. Washington D.C. is too much with us; let us have a holiday already. Of course, their ignoring of Christmas shows us what a secular time we live in now.
FRom the Progressive Income Tax to Social Security,, the Gorelick Wall to TARP,, Dems have worked overtime to screw this country and as many as they can and abort and euthanize the rest..
Is it any wonder we are in the predicament we are in as a nation? Their agenda is as Anti-American as any foreign foe we face today.

Senator Nelson (D-Nebraska) was considered the 60th vote Democrats needed to push the massive legislation through with provisions that would require taxpayers to pay for abortions. He agreed to vote in favor of cloture, leaving the early Monday morning vote 60-40 to proceed.
Julie Schmit-Albin, executive director of Nebraska Right to Life, contends the Democratic lawmaker sold out to pro-abortion forces in the Senate in exchange for several concessions — among them permanent and full federal aid for this state’s expanded Medicaid population.
“That falls directly on us as a [political action committee] and on me personally because I was his biggest defender,” she says of Nelson. “I’m taking it very personally that this is a real betrayal.” And no pro-life Nebraskan, she laments, is more “devastated” by Nelson’s actions than she is.
Nelson, says the pro-life leader, has turned against a heavily pro-life Nebraska — and “obliterated the hope of pro-life Americans” who were counting on him to stand strong.”

Forever is a very long time. And history has not ultimately been kind to tyrants. More often than not, they end up with their head(s) on a pike. Or some such fate.
Never Again! America think again. Because of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, et al. that statement rings hollow. Who will come to our aid?
