"To get all 58 Democrats and two independents on board, Reid, among other things, had to drop a government-run insurance option and a Medicare buy-in and had to increase taxes by $25 billion more than planned, bringing the total tax increases to $518 billion."

Based on the number of taxes filed in 2008 (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_Americans_filed_their_taxes_in_2008) and based on the number of people who actually pay taxes (http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2009/12/almost-4-out-of-10-americans-paid-no.html) roughly 6 out of 10 who file or 60%

135,660,228 (based on people who filed taxes in 2008) X 60% = 81,396,137 who actually pay taxes
$518,000,000,000 (amount of Health Care total tax increase) divided 81,396,137(Americans who pay taxes) = $6,363.94 per actual tax payer
How do you like that additional $6,363.94 per tax payer bill?
Wait ... you don't suppose ... he wasn't lying, was he??
Obama's gonna fix it real good.
How much does a pound of flesh go for these days? I might need a bigger truck when The Time comes.
Excellent synopsis. Of course, things will fan out differently. Some of the 40% will begin to pay taxes, and those already paying will likely see a scaled tax increase, where top earners pay a larger percentage. No mention of the other side effects of the Health Care Bill.
I pay $15k for health insurance + $2k for uncovered expenses each year. This Commie Bill, according to your calculations, will likely push my costs over $20k each year.
I don’t make a lot of money, but for some reason my local, State, and Fed is still a very costly ticket.
I could say taxes plus insurance is more than half my income. I have not included sales, fuel, excise, and other pass-along taxes. Add in the interest, food, auto insurance, car repair, utilities, clothing and then I’m broke.
Now a bunch of ass-wipes in Congress are telling me I don’t do enough, and they say I’m a racist, a narcissistic, selfish capitalist, an ignorant suburbanite, a right-winger, a tea-bagger, an intolerant Christian, blah, blah, blah... yeah, I know, it’s just political rhetoric.
They are declaring war on us.
