TEHRAN, Iran Iran's president on Tuesday dismissed a year-end deadline set by the Obama administration and the West for Tehran to accept a U.N.-drafted deal to swap enriched uranium for nuclear fuel, and claimed his government is now "10 times stronger" than a year ago.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's remarks underscored Tehran's defiance amid the nuclear standoff and also sought to send a message that his government had not been weakened by the protest movement sparked by June's disputed presidential election. His comments came a day after the latest opposition protest by tens of thousands mourning a dissident cleric who died over the weekend.
President Barack Obama has set a rough deadline of the end of this year for Iran to respond to an offer of dialogue and show that it will allay fears of weapons development. Washington and its allies are warning of new, tougher sanctions on Iran if it doesn't respond.
The U.N.-proposed deal is the centerpiece of the West's diplomatic effort. Under the deal, Tehran would ship most of its stockpile of low-enriched uranium abroad to be processed into fuel rods, which would ease the West's fears that the material could be used to produce a nuclear weapon.

Surprise Surprise...
What has the Dinnerjacket to fear.?
He has been building a nuclear weapon and threatening the Middle East for years now , and no one has stood up to him, no one has done anything except cower in fear.
He took British seamen prisoner and Britain backed down, I believe he has some more seamen now and still Britain does nothing. He has a couple of Americans who really didnt have any business being where they were, but he still has them I think. No one has done anything.
He is like the child, where the parent keeps saying no, but does nothing. He isnt going to stop until someone steps on him, and so far it looks like no one will.
Odd, I hear the same thing from my Congressional folks.
Did it ever occur to our “smart power” children that they might need a Plan B?
Barry’s letter to Mahmoud sure helped.
LOL - Ahmadinejad and congress critters separated at birth.
And why should he care? It’s not like there are going to be any consequences.
Israeli Air Force, start your engines.
how ‘bout some new news-pretty boring stuff here....
Anyone ever follow-up on why Barry had to be sworn in 3 times? Maybe once like all the rest of our Presidents, once as a Muslim, and once as Barry Soetoro?
Just a little morning muckraking here...
Is this what obama meant by restoring our prestige in the world?
I know this is sort of a daily news article. Just wanted to illustrate how well President Obama’s foriegn policy was going, and how serious our enemies are taking us now that President George W. Bush was out of office.
I only thought it was twice. It is quite odd, that it was more than once. But this is the President of firsts.
Yea, but now we bow before foreign leaders and speak eloquently about how evil America was and how much we want the world, by golly, to LIKE us.
You mean that wasn’t enough to draw a tear from Ahmanutjob’s eye and bring about nirvana?
I’m shocked.
‘We Don’t Care’
Is this finally plain enough for this Administration to understand?
I doubt it.
Is this finally plain enough for this Administration to understand? I doubt it."
Or the Administration understands perfectly and is only using its various statements and diplomatic initiatives as cover for Iran. When Iran declares itself a nuclear weapons power, the US will shift seamlessly to an endless policy of talking about containment and the dance will go on (unless Israel attacks and then we will condemn Israel).
Why not send a drone over there and kill the SOB?
“Barrys letter to Mahmoud sure helped.”
Did Ayers write it for him?
