A Nebraska doctor’s message for Ben Nelson
Michelle Malkin ^ | 12/20/2009 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 12/20/2009 5:30:54 PM PST by markomalley

Dr. Becky Hollibaugh of Friend, Nebraska e-mailed me her message for sellout Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) this morning:

Hello Michelle:

I’m a family practice doctor in Nebraska. I sent the following (angry,I admit) letter to Senator Nelson. I urge your readers (from Nebraska and elsewhere) to do likewise, in their own words!

Dear Senator Nelson:

I send this message under “Tort Reform” because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out. I will dedicate
every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election. The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can’t wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your “compromises” on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly (on-little-legislative-cat’s-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won’t wuss-out on this issue!

I know you won’t give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I’m a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn’t slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and ‘Nanny’ Pelosi will NOT be forgotten.

Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and ‘diagnose’ the problem, then charged another $180 to ‘fix’ the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit. Thank you for securing such a ‘lucrative’ rate for me! Thank you so much for making me–someone with 8 years of education!–make less than a mechanic or appliance repair technichian. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent.

You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist-coddling coward.

Sincerely,
Becky F. Hollibaugh, D.O.

Dear Becks,

Thanks for that little tip on the unfair salaries of appliance repairmen. I'll get right on that.

Love and Kisses,
Ben

Well this won't be a very good recruitment letter for government sponsored doctors. The government "Gods" will have to get some docs from third world countries now...like Europe does. Isn't that grand?

Good letter. But two words would have sufficed.

Dear Nebraska Doctor,

You are an idiot. First, medmal payouts IN TOTAL for 2008 were about $5 billion. This is good and bad ones alike. FWIW, bonuses at Goldman Sachs are about $20 billion. I bet our country spends more on pizza than it does malpractice payouts.

Next, you are an idiot. $35 PER VISIT should be multiplied by the number of patients you see per hour. Lets assume you only see 6 per hour, then you are making $210 per hour times 6 hours per day is about $5,000 per week or a cool quarter million per year. This is kinda a minimum.

Third, you are an idiot. Working people have to make livings, too and you ain’t the center of the universe.

sincerely,

parsy, who is interrupting his gumbo to write this missive to you, you idiot.

Good letter! I guess doctors will be civil servants once the “reform” bill kicks in. (”Re-form” is more like it. Reconstruct America in the image of Third World dictatorship countries.)

This dedicated doctor's letter should be the focal point of national outrage ... clear, articulate, devastating.

Again, this is a very well written and well put letter and it does very little.

The time for words and letters and the such is over.

It is clear that the dems won't stop without us physically stopping them. How this physicality is handled, well, I was kind of hoping to see the military get involved some how by now. Sadly I don't think they care or even know what is happening. Those that would command stand to lose a great deal in making waves with the powers that control their paychecks and it appears that military politics matters more than standing by that oath that they took to protect and defend our constitution from enemies both foreign AND domestic. What was I thinking?

So I guess we will go the way of socialism.

All hail Dear Leader Chairman Obamao.

Nah! I have two doctors in the family. She sounds just like them. The problem is that they just don;\’t get much practise at communicating this sort of thing. They are awkward when not “making nice.” Many of them are conservatives.

RE: “kind of immature for a doctor”

*********************

Not really — I used to work for a large national health insurer and we often heard stories of the immature way some doctors came across — in situations concerning their patients and certainly when dealing with insurers re their contracts.

I’ve liked almost all the doctors I’ve seen over time, but there definitely are a few who could use some tips on dealing with people. I’m no one to talk though, as I always call it as I see it.

I just wanted to mention that doctors often act in an immature manner.

Nope...wrong. The doctor pays his staff out of that money and the overhead. Most docs I know make barely over six figures a year after everything is paid.

I have not seen many homeless doctors living out of tents lately. As a group. I think they are well overpaid. BTW, so does the washing machine repair guy.

In what way? The government is robbing her blind, and she's responding. If that's "immature", then we need a lot more immature activity.
