Movie star Brittany Murphy is dead of a heart attack at 32.

She went into full cardiac arrest early Sunday and could not be revived, the Website TMZ reported.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department got a call from the home of Murphy's husband Simon Monjack about 8 a.m., fire officials told TMZ.

She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival

Murphy starred in "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

The starlet became a household name among teens in 1995 as the sidekick in "Clueless," who went from awkward wall flower to snotty hottie.

A few years ago, she released the single "Faster Kill Pussycat," which became a dance club hit.

Her last big movie was "Sin City" in 2005

I was wondering about an eating disorder? Something had to have happened because cardic arrest at 32 yo is not normal without having a previous heart condition.

Once again many of the geniuses around here have precluded the need for an autopsy.

Just like Karen Carpenter also at age 32.

'' it's hard for me to believe that Karen Carpenter was that young when she died... of course, i was a teen-ager at the time, so 32 seemed "older."

I identify with your comments.

Wealth is not the key to happiness. Many people who don’t have money are happy. Many people who do have it are not happy.

It’s more about personal positive outlook than anything else.

I choose to be happy, therefore I am.

Look, we all have outside forces that impact our happiness. They are generally temporary. When they are not, that’s a shame. Hopefully that person will be rewarded in heaven.

She seems pretty spacy there. Then again, she WAS an actress so I don’t know if that’s what she was like.

She was quite pretty when younger. Cause of death: crack cocaine.

>P> From website "crazy days and nights" discussing Brittany:

May 5, 2008:

Our B list film actress who happens to be married to a real winner was on a recent modeling shoot. Our actress loves crack and had arranged to meet a friend of a friend while she was in this city not her own who was going to supply her with everything she needed. He did show up, and she bought enough rocks to get her through the day. Unfortunately she didn't have a crack pipe because she didn't want to carry it on the plane. Her dealer didn't have one either. To say she was upset was an understatement. She sent her dealer and her assistant out to get one. They came back a short while later with one they had got from a homeless person for $100. Our actress didn't even bother to say thanks. Just spent the next hour in kind of a haze, the photo shoot be damned.

Perhaps her death is related to this recent unstable behaviour - story dated 1 December 2009.

Brittany Murphy has hit back at rumors she was fired from her new movie, currently filming in Puerto Rico, and replaced by Twilight’s Rachel Lefevre.

Reports out of Puerto Rico suggested that Clueless star Brittany, 32, was thrown off the film set for being difficult, while there was talk that her British husband, Simon Monjack — who was reportedly hospitalized on Saturday — fought with locals.

However, her rep says these stories are not true.

“The allegations currently circulating on the internet about Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack read like a fictional plot from one of the 50 plus movies Ms. Murphy has successfully completed without incident,” says the rep.

“She was not nor has she ever been fired from any job big or small. Mr. Monjack did not engage in any alleged scuffles. Though do to creative differences Ms. Murphy and the production mutually parted ways.

“As far as wanting to allegedly “sabotage this project”, to the contrary Ms. Murphy wished this production nothing but the best. Puerto Rico gave Ms. Murphy a brief insight into its wonderful culture and warm people. Ms. Murphy would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their continued support.”

I don’t know the cause of her death but hints of drug use, ‘difficult behavior’ and anorexia hint at a painful, difficult life.

it could be drug use or an eating disorder... she had a lot of plastic surgery to alter her looks... she was not confident in her own skin... with her physical image...

Perhaps because when a person is a known drug user with long term rumors of anoxeria it seems silly to wait for the news of a 1% chance it was something entirely unrelated?

I guarentee if a headline about Amy Winehouse dying young comes across the headlines same thing is going to happen. Just as when news of Patrick Swayze’s death came across the headlines everyone rightly assumed cancer.

99.99% of the celebs out there look anorexic.

One of the more disturbing (IMHO) is Jennifer Connelly. She was one of the most beautiful girls and women in the world. But now she's lost so much weight, it's disturbing.

JC @ 16 - You could tell she'd grow up to be a stunner!

Stunningly beautiful face & eyes...

From 2000...

But now, she's lost so much weight. Even her face is looking gaunt.

What is it with Hollywood and the demand for women to starve themselves to death?

In that case, I should live to be 130 years old.

I know what you mean... I'd be my ideal weight if I were 8'3" tall.

Tell me about it. I think there are many of us out there that would love to donate some of our “excess” to people like her.

I would guess heart attack induced by dangerously underweight/drugs.

She was the voice of Lu Anne on “King of the Hill.”

One could have led to the other, too.

Drugs cut down on your appetite.

Or, if you are worried about weight, taking drugs will help you deal with hunger.

So it could have been on started the other, or they both could have been there independently.

In her younger years she looked pretty normal and curvy as you’d expect a young woman to be. As she got older is where she started to look more anorexic/waif modelish and I thought something had changed in her.
