Are the global warmists restrictions on energy use and carbon dioxide release calculated per capita or a fixed amount for the entire nation? I ask on an immigration thread because if they are capped for the entire nation, then each and every person will live a colder, darker and less productive life as we admit more and more people into the country through immigration and the higher birth rate of recent immigrants. Toss on top of that the chain immigration of tens of millions of family members of amnestied illegals and you are dividing a fixed size pie among many, many more people.

The bill is widely viewed as too liberal to pass.

That must mean that it's "DEAD ON ARRIVAL" then, eh?

This could be the New Years Eve surprise they way things are going!

Thank God it's viewed as too liberal and will be "DEAD ON ARRIVAL"

This is the oldest Socialist trick there is. Ask for 5 times what you could possibly ever justify, settle for half of it, call yourself the Great Bi-Partisan Compromiser !

This is their plan to add 30 Mil Dem voters, and never have a Republican in Congress again.

The iminent passage of free healthcare for every loafer indicates they could care less what the current voters think about healthcare or immigration.

It will pass and we never win an election again.!

Graham and Shumer. There’s two I’d like to see go hunting with VP Cheney.

Obama administration officials have said they are looking instead to a more moderate, bipartisan immigration-reform bill to be introduced in the Senate early next year by Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

That would be Lindsey Graham (D-S.C.) Just setting the record straight.

I'll bet 'the Maverick' is chomping at the bit at this. Why he coulda been one of the people to introduce this, if only he weren't up for re-election.

McCain now, Graham in due time...

Amnesty for illkegals would have the following consequences:

1. Bankrupting states and the federal government

2. The unemployment figures would skyrocket

3. Illegals would get preference for jobs over citizens because they work for less money

4. High paying Union jobs would be at risk

5. America further turning into the 3rd world country that it is headed for

6. Increasing debt

7. More illegals coming in hopes to get future amnesty

8. Unsafe borders get even more so

9. Criminal activity rises sharply

10. Innocent Americans killed

11. Gang acitivity increases

12. Drug crimes rise markedly

[[The bill is widely viewed as too liberal to pass.]]

And cap-n-tax and the healthcare bills weren’t ‘too liberal to pass’? Bribes will get it passed

We might as well have a Con-Con at the rate this thing is going. All the rats are acting like its a re-write of the Constitution since they obviously don’t care that his bill has in it so long as their corrupt asses are getting a hand out.

a leading congressional advocate for immigrants' rights

Invasion of the United States is not a human right.

a controversial program that enlists local police to enforce immigration laws

What's controversial about cops enforcing federal laws? They're supposed to. Prior to about 1990, cops all over the country - except maybe California - routinely apprehended illegal aliens and turned them over to what was then INS.

Gutierrez is a classic Spaniard thug and colonizer. He wants to legitimize his invading force, prevent their expulsion, and then use them to seize power and wealth over the hated Gringos.

The man shouldn't be in Congress, he should be up before a military tribunal as an enemy combatant.

Gutierrez is an unabashed ethnic bigot. To him, anything hispanic is premier, and the rest of the planet must bow in obeisance to that.
