WASHINGTON -- Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a leading congressional advocate for immigrants' rights, has introduced a bill that would allow millions of illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens and would end a controversial program that enlists local police to enforce immigration laws.
The bill is widely viewed as too liberal to pass.
Obama administration officials have said they are looking instead to a more moderate, bipartisan immigration-reform bill to be introduced in the Senate early next year by Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
Still, the Chicago Democrat made it clear that he and his allies expect a seat at the negotiating table as lawmakers and the White House seek middle ground on the polarizing issue.

Grahamnesty alert.
Are the global warmists restrictions on energy use and carbon dioxide release calculated per capita or a fixed amount for the entire nation? I ask on an immigration thread because if they are capped for the entire nation, then each and every person will live a colder, darker and less productive life as we admit more and more people into the country through immigration and the higher birth rate of recent immigrants. Toss on top of that the chain immigration of tens of millions of family members of amnestied illegals and you are dividing a fixed size pie among many, many more people.

Another 30 million socialist voters to insure the ‘rats stay in power forever. The push will be to enact, possibly prior to 2010 elections, but definitely in time for 2012.
The liberal position is to screw America and go for personal power. What a bunch of needing-to-be-thrown-out losers all these liberal maniacs are. Merry Christmas, you duplicitous bast***s.
Amnesty will pass. I am convinced of it because the Republicans are on board. The Republicans love amnesty for some reason...take 1986 the last Amnesty we had and we had a Republican President who signed it into law with no veto. I am more angry about this then even Health Care.
Communism coming hard & fast - we have little time to take back America using ANY MEANS NECESSARY!
>The bill is widely viewed as too liberal to pass.<
Too liberal for this Congress?? Wow.
By the time Zer0's first term is up this country will be full fledged Marxist ruled.

Gramnesty will lead to ONE PARTY RULE forever!
Does anyone think amnesty is wise given 10% unemployment?
Can we afford this?/s
That must mean that it's "DEAD ON ARRIVAL" then, eh?
This could be the New Years Eve surprise they way things are going!
Thank God it's viewed as too liberal and will be "DEAD ON ARRIVAL"
Unthinkable perhaps but could Americans ever contemplate a military coup if pushed far enough?
“Another 30 million socialist voters to insure the rats stay in power forever. “
Most of these new “voters” are already in states that vote rat, places like California and New York. And they’re illegally voting now and sucking money out of America. So making them “legal” will have little effect on voting patterns.
What we need to be more concerned about is voter fraud, where 110% of people in a district vote. Things like that.
We can play a role in stopping voter fraud by alerting local prosecutors to fraud we document. This will get the machinery of the state going to shut down ACORN and La Raza crooks.
If your local a prosecutor is a rat and refuses to act, go to your state representative and lay out your proof. If both the prosecutor and state rep are rats, move.
The iminent passage of free healthcare for every loafer indicates they could care less what the current voters think about healthcare or immigration.
It will pass and we never win an election again.!
Graham and Shumer. There’s two I’d like to see go hunting with VP Cheney.
