Non-stop Rosary vigil to defeat ObamaCare

Posted on 12/19/2009 5:17:02 PM PST by giotto

The 60 votes are there for ObamaCare to pass in the Senate. The only thing preventing a vote is a blizzard in Connecticut, where Joe Lieberman went home for Sabbath. So you might say that God is the reason, both for sending Joe home and for sending the snow storm.

I'm beginning to think that it will take a miracle to stop this massive take-over of the health care industry. So I propose an ongoing Rosary vigil. How it works is that I begin by saying a Rosary. When I finish, I reply to this thread. Hopefully, someone else will then take up the vigil and pray. If you decide to join us in prayer, please reply to this thread. It doesn't have to be a whole Rosary. It can be one decade, or even just a Hail Mary. Comments are welcome.

All I’ve been doing is praying. Seriously. Praying that God steps in and intervenes. Praying that something irrefutable comes out to damage obama and the democrats that will allow us to kick him out of OUR White House. Praying for some kind of divine intervention. Anything......

Thanks to all who are continuing to pray. Who knows what can happen between now and Christmas Eve? God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.

What does it mean to bump a thread? There’s a lot I haven’t figured out on here yet.

FIFTEEN PROMISES OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN
TO CHRISTIANS WHO FAITHFULLY PRAY THE ROSARY

(given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan)
  1. To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.

  2. Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.

  3. The Rosary will be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin and dispel heresy.

  4. The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

  5. Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.

  6. Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.

  7. Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

  8. Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.

  9. I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.

  10. True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.

  11. What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.

  12. To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.

  13. I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.

  14. Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.

  15. Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.

I just read all of the prayers. I’m protestant but those prayers are beautiful and the music is very moving. I pray daily for our country. Often times more than once a day. I find myself praying all the time now about all kinds of things. So many of my friends are having hard times with illnesses and being unemployed for the first time in their lives. Very difficult times right now. I feel very grateful to God for every day I have with my family.

I am too. I don’t think there is anything wrong with me as a protestant joining in on a rosary prayer. My grandmother used to take me to mass every now and then. My family is mixed between catholics and protestants. My mom went along with my Dad as he would not convert away from protestantism.

I like reading the pro-life and any pro-Christian threads. I read them all, and comment on few. I just rarely have anything to say better than it’s already been said on here but I use the info to combat liberals.....lol.

What does it mean to bump a thread?

Bumping a thread just means causing it to return to the top of the Latest Posts or Comments page. Whenever a new comment is posted, the whole thread gets pushed or "bumped" to the top of the list. That way the thread has a better chance of being seen.

Thanks. If I like a thread, is there something I need to do to bump it?

I find myself praying all the time now about all kinds of things...I feel very grateful to God for every day I have with my family.

I took Catechism in Catholic school, and I was taught that there are four kinds of prayer: Supplication (asking for some favor), Penance (asking forgiveness for sins), Praise, and Gratitude. Of these, I think gratitude is the most important. We can't take even a single moment for granted. Everything is a gift. And somehow, remembering to be grateful helps to put our trials and difficulties into perspective. The problem is that, when I most need to say a prayer of thanks, it often is the last thing I remember.

I used to take a lot for granted in my younger years and was very ungrateful. I now am grateful to God for every single breath I take and for every moment I have with my family. I have received far more than I have ever deserved that is for sure.

Thanks for your reply.

My family is mixed religiously, too. I had a Luthern great-grandma, and Methodist aunts and uncles. There are many Jewish cousins. In the immediate fam., there are a Lutheran and a Baptist minister!

We all get along fine.

What do you know about Lepanto and the miracle that happened against the Muslims there?

It can work!

The christians invented a superior boat. That’s what stomped the turks.

What’s this got to do with obamacare?

Thank you. I'm still holding out hope that something will keep this thing from passing. Meanwhile,
