Obama's Imaginary Consensus By David Harsanyi President Barack Obama grimly warned America this week that if his health care plans fail, the nation will go "bankrupt." Sure, adding another trillion-dollar entitlement program to our $12 trillion of debt may seem like a counterintuitive way to stave off economic ruin, but who are we to argue? The president's got smarts. Receive news alerts Sign Up David Harsanyi RealClearPolitics Health care Barack Obama And as is the case with so many issues, Obama adorned his rhetoric with sharp warnings of calamity should he fail, fabricated consensus to buttress his case and a promise of rapture should he succeed. You'll remember it was Obama who cautioned that failure to pass the stimulus boondoggle would "turn a crisis into a catastrophe." He claimed that a failure to act on cap and trade will lead us to "irreversible catastrophe" and that a failure to pass a government-run health care system will mean "more Americans dying every day." It's like living the Old Testament. Scary. Holy burning bushes! Did you know that everyone -- and I mean everyone -- agrees with the president?

its a pretty good day. Nelson standing strong on heathcare thus far. Copenhagen seems to be falling apart. Just saw a headline,SEIU outlook revised to negative from stable so they must be having cash flow problems which puts a smile on my face.
All in all,pretty good.

Any garbage that comes out of his mouth is meant to confuse and hide his socialist agenda. I stopped listening or believing in anything he says on the first day he opened his mouth as POTUS.

“All in all,pretty good.”

I’m having trouble feeling good about the rape of the US Treasury and taxpayers that has already occurred. My children and I paying forever so that the politically-connected don’t suffer the horror of 9-figure net worths dropping to 8, or 8 to 7. Who exactly got bailed out?

It might have been more effective if he'd said not passing the bill the would cause the earth to plunge into the sun.

Much more apocalyptic than mere bankruptcy.

Has Obama cleared this Healthcare ‘reform’ proposal with China? They’ll be the ones lending the money for it.

Obama has already made way too many ‘the sky is falling’ statements. His new predictions of doom and gloom are starting to fall on deaf ears.
