President Obama's mission to save the planet from global warming could end up trampling on the U.S. Constitution, critics say.
When Obama arrives in Copenhagen Friday, he is hoping to cut a deal on a new global-warming agreement. Even though the conference is not likely to produce a legally binding deal, critics say if the president signs an international climate treaty pledging reductions in carbon emissions, he will violate the Constitution.
"President Obama cannot bind the American people to job killing international agreements on climate change without the advice and consent of the United States Senate," former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote Wednesday at the conservative Web site Human Events.
The Constitution states that the president cannot sign treaties without the approval of two-thirds of the Senate.
But with climate change legislation stuck in the Senate after the House passed its version earlier this year, the White House is flirting with the possibility of taking action without Congress.

The best person that explained this copenhagen treaty was Lord Monckton. There was youtube footage of him not long ago on this very issue.

It really doesn’t matter. Whether or not Obama signs this and whether or not that violates the constitution is irrelevant with the EPA decision to regulate CO2.
Bill Clinton tried this with Kyoto, which the Republican controlled congress never ratified, thus opening the door for President Bush to trashcan it...oh, right, the Dems control both houses now, and they’ll send it sailing through. Thanks, protest voters.
Both Obama and Gore need to be in prison for what they have done.
I am sitting in Southern Ukraine next to the Black sea.. The people say it is the first time a blizzard like has occurred here in the middle of december.. All of southern Ukraine was without electricity.. Moldova had about 18 inches of snow..I have been here for 5 years and only a dusting of snow in December until this year.
Copenhagen and the tin foil hat scientists that are spouting this global warming crap are doing it for one reason..MONEY. There is NO science behind it and I have a frozen rear to prove it.
You need a 2/3 vote to ratify a treaty of the Senate. Any US elected government that attempts to suspend the Consitution is an enemy of it. Our military has sworn an oath to protect it and keep it in place always. This will lead to conflict if Obozo is determined to go down this path.
YEP OBAMHOAX just reallizes that COPENHAGEN meeting is failing and that the Global Warming fraud is being unveiled!

Hasn’t stopped Obama before, why should the Constitution be an issue now?
Why in the world do you think he had his puppet EPA Commissioner Lisa Jackson fire a shot across the bow by stating that the EPA would classify carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant? This is Obie at his tyrannical best. Either it’s my way or the highway. So much for inclusion. These proposed regs are nothing more than a kowtow to the international altar of the environmentalists.
Sen. Jim Webb (D) VA had stated as much in a letter to the president stating that he has no legal authority to bind us to any international treaty without the 2/3 consent of the Senate (which he knows he’ll never get). Hence, the EPA will just come in the back door. This administration has to be one of the dirtiest on record. They’d make “tricky dick” proud.

Kyoto was rejected by the Senate in a vote of about 98 - 0.
If Republicans pick up enough seats Obama could be impeached. For the first time in my life I seriously think that the US could see a military coup or a popular armed insurrection to oust Obama and restore the Constitution.
Since when has that mattered?
He would go in the National Archives and wipe his ass with the Constitution............
Why should he stop now?
