Hunter: No Amnesty
House.gov ^ | 12/16/09 | Duncan D. Hunter

Posted on 12/16/2009 2:28:59 PM PST by pissant

Washington DC – In light of immigration reform legislation introduced today by Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) that provides citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants, Congressman Duncan Hunter reaffirmed his opposition to any comprehensive reform effort that grants amnesty or fails to put border security first. On Wednesday, Congressman Hunter will be joined by a bipartisan group of lawmakers to introduce the BRIDGE resolution – a legislative initiative that outlines several guiding principles for comprehensive immigration reform.

“At the same time our Southern land border is overrun with violence and other unlawful activity, there are some Democrats in Congress who want to compound the problems attributable to our porous borders and current immigration policies.

“The security threat and costs associated with illegal immigration are far too serious to ignore. The American people expect our borders to be secure and existing immigration laws to be consistently enforced throughout our communities and the workplace.

“Not only is the Gutierrez legislation weak on enforcement, failing to implement the necessary security elements at our borders or making workplace verification a priority, it grants amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. This proposal misses the mark in every way possible.”

Hunter and several other House lawmakers will introduce legislation that outlines three guiding principles on immigration reform:

* Make E-Verify mandatory for employers and hold employees accountable as well;

* Provide sufficient infrastructure and manpower to secure and control America’s borders;

* Reject amnesty or any legal status that rewards those living in the U.S. illegally.

“We cannot allow the immigration reform debate to be dictated by misguided calls for amnesty and open borders,” concluded Hunter.

Why is Hunter introducing redundant legislation? Enforcement is the job of the Executive Branch. There are laws on the books that deals with illegals and to secure the borders.

Honestly, Eisenhower solved the illegal problem virtually overnight.

This isn’t a bill. It’s a set of principles to fight for going into the fight against someone else’s amnesty bill.

BTW. The legislation that Hunter Sr. got passed to build 834 more miles of double fence with a border patrol road between was gutted by Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, amongst others.

So new legislation will be required regarding border fences.

Works for me. Common sense, very specific. Stop the flow, secure the border and enforce the law all across this country.

If the GOP doesn’t get this they have a major issue.

We have millions out of work in our nation.

We don’t need illegal immigrants, and it’s time they went home by choice or not.

I’m very supportive of remedies to take care of the ‘or not’ group.

Leave. Leave now!

Why is Hunter introducing redundant legislation? Enforcement is the job of the Executive Branch. There are laws on the books that deals with illegals and to secure the borders.

One problem is the "laws on the books" treat illegal immigration as a misdemeanor. Thus, illegals are allowed to walk pending trial -- never to be seen again (until their next crime). And numerous jurisdictions are free to "overlook" the offense.

I don't know whether Hunter's legislation addresses this issue, but a felony charge is in order.

Hunter is a true American. It is so sad that many in the DNC AND GOP will fight this effort to protect America and Americans.

And, Luis Guitterez is an outright Hispano-Racist....anyone pushing Illegal Alien Amnesty at this time are nothing but racists and subversives

"Hunter: No Amnesty"

My initial reaction..upon reading the title:
"I agree...Not one single demoncrat/marxist in Congress, the WH, State Governments, or unions should even be considered for amnesty when the "you-know-what" hits the fan and they get lined up at the stairs to the guillotines and gallows."

““The security threat and costs associated with illegal immigration are far too serious to ignore. The American people expect our borders to be secure and existing immigration laws to be consistently enforced throughout our communities and the workplace.”

NOW....there is some straight talk! Instead of the double speak answer of..’I don’t want the kind of amnesty the democrats do’
