Slain cat's DNA leads to killer; brute stabbed little Madea with an umbrella, says ASPCA

A cold-hearted animal killer stabbed his mother-in-law's feline to death with an umbrella, and then told relatives: "It was only a cat, who cares?" lawyers said Friday.

Lordtyshon Garrett, 31, terrorized the 9-pound pussycat by poking and beating her, leaving the pet with injuries as severe as if she had fallen off a high-rise building or been hit by a car, animal experts said.

In a futile attempt to fight back, the 4-year-old feline, Madea, bit and scratched the plastic umbrella. The ASPCA found the cat's DNA on the umbrella and used it to pin the crime on Garrett, whose DNA also was found.

If someone killed one of them, I would be very upset. I wouldn’t kill someone over it though.

I would. My cats lives are more important then a good percentage of human lives to me.

Wasting a DNA test on this is a crime.

The ASPCA done the test so why does it matter?

I don’t think one need distinguish. You are measured by your love and commitment. I would not let the killing of my bunny stand, just because the offender was a human being. And if I were there to STOP the attack, you can best believe I wouldn’t stop, even at evisceration, to protect my little girl (my pet.)

You made a promise and took responsibility and by that you are found either sufficient or wanting. If someone was about to attack and kill your pet and you didn’t stop them (with deadly force, if necessary) you aren’t worth much. But I don’t think that’s what you meant.

That is so sad.

I love my cats and dogs, but I would surrender their lives for a stranger. Human life is sacred.

You sound like a leftist. it’s not a zero sum game. Because they DNA test here doesn’t mean it’s stopping them from testing human-involved crimes. That’s a most specious argument there. One does not preclude the other, so just consider the crime itself.

Take that logic further-—”Oh, you don’t need that Ferrari, we’ll have to take that money from you to give to some kids.”

Human life is sacred.

Yes, Stalin's, Hitler's, Mao's, Caligula's, Attila's, etc. etc. lives were very sacred. /s

Even an evil, sadistic stranger-—really?

Hey, Ted Bundy’s life is on the line. Your pets or Ted Bundy?

Seriously?

Thankfully, that choice is never offered to us but I subscribe a bit more to a Randian analysis here. I would sacrifice 1,000 of you for the life of my mother. It does NOT mean that I hate you or wish you ill or would not be heartbroken but I value her more than I value a thousand strangers and only a fool would choose otherwise. (Different when it’s your own life, that’s up to you to measure.)

But my beloved animal companion who shows me love and interest and affection or some stranger? I don’t know—is it a kid? Is it a hero? Is it someone I can invest some value in? Is it a killer? If it’s a murderer, rapist or tyrant, I’m not interested in prolonging their existence—so my pet would win 100 percent of the time.

I wouldn’t kill them, that is what I meant.

If I caught them doing it and they refused to stop, I may wound them.

Of course, if the were spray painting my truck I would do the same.

I’m prone to agreement. I think of some of the absolute monsters that have infested our planet and even some of the lesser evils and I can’t help but think the life of a chicken going to feed a hungry family is worth more than these scum, let alone the live of a beloved family member.

When I see animals doing things that babies can’t even do (the surprise game with the little kitten) until a bit older and do things that very small children are capable of, it changes my outlook on things.

I can’t pretend humans are the sole intelligence and emotional beings on earth. We aren’t. So measured against a psychopathic serial murderer or even the run-of-the-mill thug-—do I choose my pet or even someone else’s? lol

Personally, my property is an extension of my life. Therefore an act against my property is an act against my life. If everyone subscribed to that philosophy I guarantee crime would drop significantly.

Your truck and living things with emotion and wills of their own. Not sure i see the equivalence beyond the legal type.

A dolphin or gorilla and a truck are not equivalent, surely you must know this.

Well, cats and dogs may not be on that level but they aren’t worms or flies either.

As evil as they were I believe they did serve a purpose. Humans have no known predator but each other. There are those that create and those that destroy. It all balances out in the end. /end philosophy rant

"Like Dennis Rader, BTK."

What a monster he is! It's no wonder that the judge presiding over his wife's divorce case against him, waved the usual sixty day waiting period and gave Mrs. Rader an immediate divorce because he agreed with her claim that her mental health was in danger.

As Roger Moore’s ‘Ffolkes’ character once said, “I like cats. I don’t like people who don’t.”
