This should come as no surprise. Unless and until someone has the ‘nads to smack the living sh*t out of those Persian pricks, there is going to be nothing but trouble in that region.

Hey Jimmy?!? Yeah, you, Jimmy STP* Carter!!

The Shah doesn’t look so bad now, does he, ya stupid dolt!

I'm well familiar with the area. Lived a couple of hours away from Yemen. The one road we used to take to the Red Sea took us within a half hour of the Saudi-Yemen border. At the market there we would see the “flower people”, a local tribe. They dressed different from the Saudis and Yemenis. Wore a band of flowers around their head. The Saudis I talked to were afraid of them as they said the flower people will mess you up with their knives.

The story went that back in the mid 90s, there was a treaty where the Saudis had to return a large amount of the border territory once owned by Yemen. Oil was found there so the Saudis didn't give it back. Yemen tried to take it and got their clocks cleaned. Yemen makes a move every so often to grab it back and loses.

Time to let the ME countries sort things out for themselves. Plenty of oil in other places.

How are you going to keep Russia and China from meddling? The ME has been a proxy war between the West and the Communist since WWII. And, yes, it has been over oil, no doubt about it. Oil there is easier to get at and more plentiful.

In the last thirty or so years the Communists have decided to use the radical Muslims as worldwide allies in defeating the West. They are the ones who began the agitation against our friend the Shah. They had a willing friend in Jimmy Carter and in all Democrats who have followed.

After 9/11 Bush correctly decided we must fight them over there or fight them here. That is still the case and the Democrats still seem to be on the side of the enemy.

“In the last thirty or so years the Communists have decided to use the radical Muslims as worldwide allies in defeating the West.”

Great post and great analysis. The world has been playing chess against us, and too many in America don't recognize this. We are all too willingly self destructing.

There was a lot of talk about energy independence during the 2008 campaign, but all we have over a year later is a Cap and Trade bill based on very questionable science. We need to judiciously develop more of our own oil production, and begin a Manhattan project-type American program to develop new energy sources and energy independence. If the world erupted into global conflict tomorrow, windmills and solar panels would not save us.

I have been saying this as well. The Russain power brokers are sneeky and deceptive rats. Just like the Iranians and democrats.

Is this all a leak to get that Saudis angry (angrier) with the Iranians, to boost chances of their cooperation, or at least lack of opposition to an Israeli strike on Iran?

My first thought was very similar.

When there are weak leaders in high positions war is not only a possibility, it is an eventuality.

In 2001 they thought President Bush and VP Cheney were a weak combination. They learned otherwise. As much as BDS stuck in his last two years, I find little real fault in this area.

Now though...evil reveals itself again because a weak leader doesn't know how to play a strong hand.

This is the beginning of the coming Iran-Saudi arabia conflcit which I think will go down this summer.

Iran has been very “smart” to position themselves on Saudi’s flank, far away from Iran, but close enough to foment and stir up what the Hothni’s are doing.

I think it was 7 or 8 months ago when they did this with their naval exercises. Instead of just “monitoring”, US interests should have not allowed them in the area.

The action is the equivalent of placing the severed head of a race horse in King Fahad’s bed.

The question is will there be direct action by the Saudi special forces in Iran? One can only wonder how much GCC money was spent on the recent elections and demonstrations in Iran
