Her choppy blue-and-blond hair hiding the fear in her eyes, a 15-year-old voiced her dislike for a hip-hop music group and got punched in the face by a classmate. The whole thing was caught on tape, and social media helped police in their investigation.
A crowd of six to 10 classmates were following the self-described emo girl and her boyfriend home from school in Newark, Ohio, on an autumn day in September. Some kids were taping it and others were egging on the assailant, who was on the school wrestling team. It all started because Alexis Xanders doesn't like Insane Clown Posse.
One of the students who recorded the incident contacted Xanders on MySpace and sent her the video two months later. The teen says she wanted something done, so she uploaded the video to YouTube and CNN iReport last week.
While only six to 10 people witnessed the alleged assault, the video has received more than 1,000 views on CNN iReport to date.
A local newspaper reporter saw the video and alerted the local police department, says Newark Police Sgt. Scott Snow. A police report was filed Sept. 24, and authorities are investigating the other kids in the video who were goading the suspect.

But I was told juggalos were peaceful!
My grandparents lived in Newark OH in the 60’s. My grandfather was at the Air Force Station. As I remember from summertime visits it was a quiet little town.
So call me a male chauvinist if you want but hit my woman (and she likes that!!) and go ahead and pick out your burial plot!!! That also goes for my children!!!
LOL... I remember the time in high school when the school bully shoved me up against the wall, when he was passing by. The problem was that he shoved me up against my girlfriend and her against the wall, too.
Well, we didn't get into it right there, but I said he better never do that again. And we picked it back up again in Physical Education... "PE"... The coaches knew something was going on, so they put both of us together in a situation in class to see what would come up... LOL... And we had another skirmish there, again, where I threw him down to the ground, and it was broken up.
And then it continued on into the lunch period where he came up and wanted to get into it again, right there, but I wasn't going to be pushed into anything and I was eating lunch anyway... :-)
So, he just hauls off and hits me, and then we got into it...
Tables and chairs went flying, and we rolled around and so on, and the crowd of kids around kept the teachers from getting in there and breaking it up. By the time it was all over, he was taken off to the hospital and didn't come back to school. I was taken to the principle's office and expelled for three days... oh well...
He never came back to school again, after that beating he got..., so we got rid of one school bully that day... :-)
And to think that our Puritan forefathers named the one in New Jersey “New Ark Of The Covenant” (New Ark for short). They’ve got to be spinning in their graves at what became of their shining cities, established way back in the 17th century.
Do the kids who abused this girl and her friends have parents that care?
Well, knowing how those things go, the parents probably never knew what happened in that little episode...
"The parents are the last to know..."
[although they probably suspect something...]
Hate crime?
Oh wait, she’s a white woman.
Sorry, nothing to see here... move on...
New Ark as in New Ark Of The Covenant—the city’s full name originally (the Puritans named it).
Why are they blurring everything out? Is that supposed to be "protecting the innocent?" Put all their faces on big screens and let people see it. Let them be the objects of ridicule. Expose each and every one of them. Highlight their bad behavior.
Well, if you've got the money to back up the funding for any lawsuits that come up, I'm sure they'll be glad to do it. Short of that, I think you'll see blurred faces... :-)
[It's kinda like the same reason we use excerpts here on Free Republic for certain "stories" -- because some big corporations have more money for lawsuits... doncha know... :-) ... ]
From reading the article and comments, the only thing I can add is we ‘guts’ (Tigerism) our work cut out. Our young people in the northeast and midwest cities are out-of-control and fail miserably insofar as their education skills are concerned. It’s time to knock them upside the head and let them know they’re costing us too much taxpayer money for this politically sponsered thuggery.
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
I had the same experience. Three bullies tried to make me their mark during middle school and high school. Three bullies wouldn’t have tried it if they had to do it all over again. The funniest after-action reaction was the bully who, about three months later, after finding himself on the same side of a city street face to face with me about 50 feet sway, stopped dead in his tracks and jaywalked through busy traffic to get safely on the other side of the street.
I dont think that the intention of sending the video was for the victims benefit. Perhaps I am thoroughly jaded, but I am thinking that this was a further attempt to put fear and intimidation on that student. More like.....remember this incident, well it can happen again.
Ummm..., you need to read the story... LOL...

ALSO, when you hear the video being taken, you can hear the "surprise" expressed by the person taking the video. They were taking the video, but they were not part of it, and from the sounds that I heard on the video, they weren't supportive of it either.
Your opinion of further intimidation was the first thing I thought of too.
It would be interesting to find out what the group did to the person sending the tape to her.
ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
Ummm..., but you won't learn to fight and defend yourself that way -- unless you are learning by beating up your own brothers and sisters, and getting beat up (that works, too... LOL...).
But the best experience is getting beat up at school and then beating up on them, back again... :-)
It would be interesting to find out what the group did to the person sending the tape to her.
Ummm..., they're not talking right now.. they got beat up too... LOL...
When I was in grade school (1960’s) and watched adults ignore bullying I swore to myself that as an adult I would step in if I saw it. I have.
I was in the international district in Seattle taking a break on a bike ride when a 14 or 15 year old asian kid came running around a corner as fast as he could. About ten others soon rounded the corner right behind him. They caught him in a parking lot and started pummeling and kicking the kid. There were lots of people around and they all just ignored it except for me and a taxi driver. We were pulling kids off as mayhem went on deep in the group. We finally stopped it but by then the kid was pretty bloody.
Usually it is more like what happened in this video though. If I had been in one of the cars I would have stopped, got out, and asked the group what was going on. They would have lied but the bullying would have ended because I would have ensured that they broke up.
Private school is an option, too.
They’re self-described emos. Google emo or emo boy, and you’ll understand why he’s a wimp.
I guess I lived a charmed school life. ( sock hops and ice cream parlors ) I never saw any bullying and only heard about school bus incidents from my children. They might tell it differently...I wonder?
Some of these kids today would have fared better being raised by wolves. You may have heard of the teen girls in Minnesota who were working as aides in a nursing home. They horribly sexually abused patients and did the most unspeakable things to them. They’d still be doing it if another aide had not “ratted” them out. (I hate that word. Let’s just say she did the right thing and told on them.)Until kids get their tails kicked—both literally and figuratively—we’ve got a brand new generation of roving demons.
